Breaking news on SSN now.

Lol. Almost got my first thread up then, you wanker :ROFLMAO:

Bonkers news though, what's he had, 8, 10 games? It does get desperate down there though, that's what money does.

Strange decision as he only got a few games and IMO Fulham have been starting to look a bit better in the last couple of games (only a bit mind)

Strange appointment as well-reasonably good manager but only ever managed in Germany, not really the experience for a relegation dogfight in the PL.

Fulham hire Felix Magath after sacking Rene Meulensteen

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26200035

Fulham have named former Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath as manager after sacking Rene Meulensteen.

A club statement made no mention of Meulensteen, who replaced Martin Jol in December and won three league games.

"They have hit the panic button on emotion and fear - but hey ho, that's football," Meulensteen told BBC Sport.

Fulham chairman Shahid Khan said: "With 12 matches remaining, we certainly can no longer post empty results. Action was required."

Magath, 60, has signed an 18-month contract.

Meulensteen coached at Old Trafford for 12 years under former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and had 16 days in charge of Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala last August.

He guided Fulham to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday but the Cottagers were beaten by a last-minute penalty as they lost 3-2 to Liverpool in midweek.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Meulensteen said: "I knew the owners were freaking out a little bit that there was the possibility of the club going down.

"The way forward that we have discussed with the club was about longevity and in this case it is clearly an act of fear.

"I have not had a lot of time and people who came to the Manchester United and Liverpool games could see what I was trying to put in place.

"I couldn't care less what they put in the statement, to be honest."

Bloody ridiculous - if I was Rene, I would go to court for unfair dismissal because that is beyond crazy

IF we decide to appoint Louis Van Gaal in the summer I really hope Levy looks at appointing Rene Meulensteen as a coach to work along side him. Meulensteen might not be the best manager but is a very good coach and think it would be a great advantage to have a fellow Dutchman working along side LVG who has worked in the league.

From wiki:

As a manager, Magath quickly gained respect and became notorious for his hard, grinding training methods, laying heavy emphasis on discipline, fitness and conditioning. Players gave him nicknames like "Saddam" (Saddam Hussein) or “Quälix”, a rhyming mash of his first name Felix and the German verb “quälen” (to torture).[6] He was once described by former Eintracht Frankfurt player Bachirou Salou as the "last dictator in Europe.

Woah my god. What craziness is this????

They had just started to play for the first time this season and wilkins and m'steen looked like the winning combination to keep them up.

They were excellent the last two games and the players were obviously 100% behind them and playing for them.

Just stupid.
