If he gets released on a free, would it have to be before Thursday for us to sign him?

If he were to become a free agent then his signing could be completed after the deadline. That scenario is incredibly, massively, unimaginably unlikely.

If CE is staying now till end of the season and will leave on a free to Madrid no doubt, I do wonder if there will a last minute agreement with Madrid for Bale to join us on a year load with a deal to buy next year based on us allowing CE to join them. Only a wish but I’m hopeful

Why would they let him go on a free? They would have to pay him all his remaining wages for the duration of his deal, assuming he would even agree to the early termination of his contract.

I’m assuming that there’s a deal to be done with Bale and his contract. I just can’t believe that Bale is so unbothered about his career that he is willing to not play football again for the time he has left there. If Madrid can’t shift him, but can pay off a lump sum and get him off the books, it might save them a few quid and give Bale the chance to negotiate a big signing on fee and another few years contract somewhere else. The reason I asked about free transfers is because there’s no benefit to Madrid doing that until all the windows have closed.

I said this last month. Neymar Bale swap. Would probably be really hard to do but it makes sense on so many levels.

Bring. Him. Home.

LOL. i was going to post something on the PD thread along the lines of "With PD probably off, perhaps something is happening on the Gareth Bale thread, let's ask Yankspurs!" and voila, you were 40 minutes ahead! Would love to see him back as much as i think PSG makes the most sense.....

you put one billboard up in the states and the yanks are hooked

What a beautiful sight to see though. At the time, all we ever heard about on this side of the pond was United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and le Arse. No one else existed according to the media over here. The balls it took to drop that billboard on Times Square was a statement of itself and was almost as enjoyable as watching Ledley chase down Robben.... almost.
