Another thread of "what are we doing", "we're a joke" etc.... It's the media - there is absolutely no guarantee of truth, and they deliberately throw these stories out for "football politics".

My guess is that Benfica are trying to scare West Ham into a better deal on their terms.

I have absolutely no idea what the club are trying to do.

Same old juggling act. Then we wonder why we don't compete and are a mess on the pitch.

How about have a strategy on what players fit your profile? Not just anyone who you can get ahold of for a reasonable fee.
1,000,000% this, I’m starting to despair really, we are a fucking shambles.
get a proper DofF levy or get some owners who know what the fuck they’re doing with the football side of th3 business.

unless we are signing him and have a ST,DM and RB lined up then mabye I’ll let them off but right now it’s just so scattergun.

If we sign this guy you have to wonder about our transfer strategy and if Mourinho and co can even see the blaring weakness that we have.

Florentino Luis > Gedson Fernandes

Gedson is a decent prospect, but definitely a #8. Florentino is the natural #6 and would suit us more of the two. I suspect this is just paper talk and we're not actually interested, especially because of the 18 month loan deal bit.

Jose does, he’s not stupid, listen to him when he was a pundit and him saying Sissoko is not a CM, sessengon can be a LB but LW right now etc etc, the fact he’s dropped rose, he hooks players at HT, trust me he knows a player and where we need to improve to play his preferred way but question is can levy deliver?

So why are we not knocking the door down for Luis?

Anybody have any idea?

Because common sense is not that common with our club. Hopefully its because we're seriously targeting Soumare and this is just bollocks agent talk.

If we pursue this, club's an utter joke

I’ve got to be honest. Yes were an utter joke.
I don’t trust our scouts - feels like we don’t have any.
We don’t have a transfer strategy.
We don’t have any planning both short term and long term.
We sell crucial players without adequate replacements.

I love you spurs! But we’re an utter shambles.

Florentino Luis > Gedson Fernandes

Florentino Luis looks exactly like what we need, he has a monster defensive output similar to that of Kante or Idrissa Geuye.

In liga NOS (per game) 2.9 tackles, 4.1 interceptions, 0.4 clearances
in CL (per game) 6 tackles, 1 interception, 1 clearance

far more of a DM and what we need

He's not very good at all. Benfica are packed with very good players (although nobody to Bruno Fernandes' standard in my slightly biased opinion), but he's not one of them. Like has been said, Florentino would be a much better, but also much more expensive signing. Am I allowed to mention Ruben Dias as well as he's also Benfica? He's very good, but not sure he's what we need. He's more a brute, and we need a speedy centre back if you ask me. Which you didn't.

It's a shame that our transfer strategy has apparently reverted back to signing a bunch of rag-tags and cheap misfits to plug holes. No long term targets, no investment. Purely adding filler to the squad with whoever happens to be available at the time.

Depressing isn’t it?
