Damn Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea could go to another level this season. City potentially signing Messi and Liverpool Thiago. City would become CL favorites with Messi imo

Deal probably worth 170m+ for a 33 yr old as well as savings of at least 200k p/w on wages. Would almost make sense for Barca to accept purely on financial terms. If Messi really wants to go, regardless of presidential changes then probably makes sense on footballing grounds too
It absolutely makes sense financially. Messi is on 50m per year net, so they actually pay out 100m per year on wages just for him.

Honestly super excited (maybe more so than many of our recent signings) about the prospect of seeing messi in the Premier league if he is signing city, will be incredible to have a football all time great in our league, mouth-watering, particularly as it's for a team who are in honesty out of sight in terms of their quality already anyway.

Also looking forward to him "playing on a rainy night at stoke city" :ROFLMAO:

Stoke will need to get a lot better very quickly for that to happen :p

What is the equivalent in the PL now? No Stoke, no Bolton, WBA have Bilic in charge and might actually play football now.

Everton looking likely to sign an entirely new midfield this summer- Allan from Napoli, Doucoure, and James Rodriguez (the Ancelotti connection working here). Expensive but that is a huge sign of intent. Very quality midfield if it comes off IMO and with Richarlison and Calvert Lewin I could see them really picking it up this year.

We always say that about Everton every summer, and every season they end up 7th at absolute best.

Doucoure and Allan would be a strong midfield if both deals come off though, won't argue with that. James is just pure luxury, I just cannot see him working in the PL at all.

Everton do the same every window, buy a star name or someone who has had relative success elsewhere.

Whether its Lukaku, Kean, Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Digne, Mina, Gomes.

They will end up mid table as per normal but Allan and Doucoure could be a good midfield pairing. James on the other hand, no thanks, be out half the season injured.

James played some of his best football under Ancelotti and has been very productive when given the confidence and an extended run in the team (made team of the year in his best season in Madrid). Generally whenever he has played in 4-2-3-1 systems or similar (Monaco, Bayern, Colombian NT) his quality has shone through. Everton are crying out for a player in that position and there's no one better or more attainable for them than James is, who would be a clear improvement on Sigurdsson. I'd expect him to have a similar impact to Payet at West Ham.

Obviously it remains to be seen how it'll all come together if they manage to pull these signings off but they would be quite a coup for them. Mind you they still need to sort themselves out defensively if they want to challenge seriously in that top 8

It doesn't make sense financially to let him go, Messi is one of the few players (basically him, Ronaldo and Neymar, possibly Mbappe as well now) who pays for himself via the money he brings in from image rights, sponsorship and everything else that comes with being an elite, world-recognised superstar of football. Simply being Leo Messi is enough to make him a profitable investment regardless of on-field success, at least until he reaches the point at which he's no longer one of the go-to names in football.

Whichever team signs Messi will benefit both directly (sponsorship, image rights) and indirectly (brand recognition) from having him. There's a focus on shirt sales in the media right now but that would likely only recoup a small percentage of his wages - the sponsorship deals are where the big money is made. I think Juventus increased their income by something like £45-50m from the Adidas and Jeep deals alone when they signed Ronaldo, and there are tons of other partners that will want to be associated with whichever team gets Messi. At that level of stardom, his ability is really a side-issue when it comes to his value, at least in the short term (obviously if he goes to shit on the pitch his value will be worth less longer term)

There's a hell of a lot of work to do with that Everton squad. There are areas all over the pitch which could be upgraded, I think the only areas that could be considered strong (or even close to) are LB and ST.

I doubt they'll challenge the top 6 with just the addition of a few midfielders.

I do wonder where they’re going to get their creativity from.

The likes of Richarlison and Rodriguez especially are much more shooters than they are creators for others.

Would like to see it happen even though fans will gripe because James Rodriguez is a name they recognize and the inevitable claims of them going above us that seem to happen yearly with Everton and/or West Ham will surely re-arise.

That said he’s an interesting player that can be electric on his day but often doesn’t fit many tactical systems. So I’d like to see what can come off in Everton.

Leeds representatives held meeting with lazio in which 5 players were discussed in which Lazio accepted a €30m offer from Leeds United for centre-half Luiz Felipe #LUFC

If luiz felipe is worth 30m, then how much foyth should be valued for leeds united?
