ah, my bad then :p

I just can't see Spurs even trying for Ribery. Could be Draxler but is he 50mil player at 20yo? Could be even Reus but he said he want to stay in Dortmund..

Definate good calls there, Rues and Draxler are fine players, even if we have to overpay. I dont think Bale was worth 86m, so does happen, but the bale transfer could set a new precedent in over pricing.

TBH I can only see one player worth that kind of money: HESKEY!

but he would be a free agent so can´t be him...
Özil - obviously not.
Hulk - not worth anywhere near 50M
Mata - press got him
Pastore - not worth 50M
Ribery - incredible player, easily worth 50M - if he were five years younger.
Reus - Ooh... but I thought we were talking midfielders? If not I´d love him.
Lewandowski - Same as Reus. EDIT: actually, I´d prefer Reus.
Vidal - Amazing footballer, not worth 50M and in a position we´ve got well covered.
Messi - Sure.
Ronaldo - No problem with that either.
Draxler - Massive talent, incredible future. Still 50M? He´s great and all, but 50?!

Thanks for the info / round up GF.

But look what you have started.

The handwringers are handwringing and the dilly dalliers are starting to self-flagellate.

My guess would be Draxler - hasn't been linked with us in the media and still not properly registering on the radar over here but looks an unbelieveable talent.

Mata I've always discounted thus far but it's clear there are issues with Mourinho and Mata not fitting into his system so whilst I still believe any potential deal with Chelsea is littered with hurdles, if it became feasible for them to offload Mata for big bucks and secure a top striker which I'm sure they'll go back in for Rooney then you never know.

After that, you're really clutching at straws with Reus and Lewandowski the next believable but if I was a betting man, I'd stick with Draxler - let's hope Schalke struggle and he stays incognito!

Sadly I think it is Draxler. Can definitely believe Schalke would accept that bid and it makes sense that Draxler turned down Spurs given that he earlier turned down City and Real Madrid

Did he really turn them down or is this one of those urban myths that gets bandied round?

Not saying your telling porkies as you're far more knowledgeable on this subject and German football than me but I have never recalled any firm offers from City and Madrid.

In any case, maybe it was more the fact that he wanted first team football which wasn't guaranteed at those clubs which we may able to offer and he clearly has a lot of affection for Schalke.

Draxler: I lost sleep over Madrid & Man City offers

The attacking midfielder had a hard time deciding whether he was ready to move abroad, while he has ruled out joining Borussia Dortmund at some point

Julian Draxler has admitted that snubbing interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City in favour of staying at Schalke caused him sleepless nights.

The Germany international reportedly received offers worth up to €60 million over a five-year period earlier this summer, but Draxler eventually opted to stay at his current club as he felt the time was not right to move abroad yet.

"I had sleepless nights about it. I was on holiday in Egypt with my girlfriend and sat alone on the balcony thinking about what to do," Draxler told Bild when questioned about Madrid and City's offers.

"It was not an easy decision. You never know whether you will ever get such an offer again. In the end, I followed my heart and decided to remain at Schalke."

The 19-year-old then went on to discuss a potential transfer to Borussia Dortmund and again stressed that he would never leave Schalke for their arch-rivals.

"Unless they brainwash me, I will never join Dortmund."

Draxler has a contract with Schalke until June 2018, but has a €45.5 million release clause.

(Just to add, the release clause has since run out)

I stand corrected!

Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders and that he'd fit in with our players and ethos very well, not least he can strike up his footballing relationship with Holtby again.

oh wait wait. what about Andres Iniesta? He's delaying making a new deal but as reported he wants 17mio per year which he obviously can not get at Spurs :p

I'll never be able to live this suggestion down, will I?

Welp, thank god for beer...and women.

Why would anyone spend 50 mil on a 30 year old. Robbery is a great player but too much at that price tag. Would love if it where Reus but he would never come, BVB are too of the league at the moment and are a bigger club then us and he would prob cost more then 50 mil. Alexis Sanchez is another possibility but not worth 50 mil. The only player that I think it could be is, as everyone has mentioned, Draxler. He can play left, has incredible potential and is very young. He also would turn us down for the exact reason alluded to by Fox in his post. Would be a special signing, although not really a player who can play upfront.

Ribery is too far fetched, despite me probably being in the minority of one who thinks he's ever so slightly overrated.

Ribery signed a new contract this summer, its Draxler IMO.
