I feel that they will pay more in wages and maybe fees to us.

They are extremely tight for money and are essentially relying on winning the EL for the Champions League money or else they’re barely going to have a budget at all.

That’s why they have to lose the final. It restricts their buying power and weakens them while Chelsea serve a two window transfer ban.

We’re on the right

Personally he's the one player I want us to sign no matter who leaves but I would imagine that he would only be a target if Eriksen leaves.

Probably right, but we need to be buying players like this in addition to Eriksen if we want to truly improve our squad.

As we know our first 11 is top quality (generally) but need squad depth as this season has shown, regardless of Eriksen situation we should be looking at this or players of a similar quality to boost our ranks

I'd be over the moon if we managed to land him. Lamela out and Ziyech in, yes please (y)
Why Lamela out? Why not have both? I thought we wanted to strengthen. There are more deserving players I would rather see us to let go than Lamela.

Don't see an Eriksen comparison at all. Yes he's creative clearly, but he's more much more direct.

A wide forward more than a 10.

I love Lamela as an option, except he’s just not healthy enough to be relied upon to do it. Every time we’re in the midst of an injury crisis and really need him he’s off in the infirmary himself.

No doubt he has the quality, has a history of a bad attitude, which leads to a poor work ethic, to go along with his age and the fact he's never played outside of Holland, makes me very cautious of him.

When I’ve seen him his work rate has been fantastic.

Yes when he wants to be he can be very industrious, it's more a question of his commitment, maybe he's matured as a player but at least early on in his career he was a bit of a loose cannon.

I think he would have an immediate impact on the premier league. Looks tenacious and direct. Two things which frighten the life out of any defender. He always seemed to be in open areas in and around the box too. In the second leg he somehow managed to be everywhere on the picth whilst also not being out of position. At 25 million, it's a no brainer imo.

Same sort of age as Mahrez when he went to Leicester and he was worth the punt. Must admit he pissed me off on Wednesday which is always the sign of a good player.
Mahrez went to Leicester when he was 22. Ziyech is 26.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be disappointed if we sign him. There's just something about him, which no @Bulletspur isn't based on any hard facts, although I don't even know what facts those would be, that makes me think he could struggle regularly playing in a more difficult, more demanding league. It's just a feeling that I acknowledge may well be wildly incorrect. I just think he could be more Townsend, less Son in the Premier League. From what I understand, he seems to play his best football in space and on the counter, which he won't often get here, and he has an ingrained tendency to shoot on sight, which I find a little frustrating sometimes.

I also don't think he plays in a position where we desperately need to strengthen. I would be looking at CM, a creative AM, RB and a CB if Toby leaves before I'd be looking at a wide forward, unless they were a genuinely world class player that became available.

Ziyech ran rampant not just against Spurs, but also against Real Madrid and Juventus. He has really developed a lot the last two seasons and is the kind of signing that helps you close the gap on City and Liverpool. He is an immense striker of the ball with both feet and is one of the most prolific through ball players in Europe. Those are the two things you need against teams that park the bus.

Beyond that, go back and watch the first leg against us. He had SIX successful tackles. That's a ridiculous number for an attacking midfielder in a setup like Ajax have.

Given his potential transfer fee and the likely wage he'd command, you'd be hard pressed to find better value in this market.

Is he somekind of late bloomer? Never heard about him before the last months.

Indeed he's not the first one I'd sell, but if it meant that we could potentially upgrade with someone like Ziyech then I'd approve it every day of the week. Lamela has been struggling with fitness issues for such a long time and it does not look like it will get any better. It's time to let him go and replace him. He's really not irreplaceable on either quality or mentality.

I’ve been impressed with him every time I’ve seen him. We should be all over him.
