I havent missed the anxiety.

But I havent missed the inconsistent and totally shite officiating either. It was one of my main turn offs of football indecent times. Nothing has changed. It is worse than it has ever been.

Saw the Spurs result on Twitter and I've been reading the last couple of pages of the Match, Mourinho and ENIC threads to see what the mood is in the now-unfamiliar world of Spurs Chat. Anyone tempted to join me in a spot of apostasy?

Didn't miss it and quite frankly have only watched us in this 'Project Restart' farce because of the free NOWTV passes.

Cancelled my SkySports subscription because football is dead.

Awful atmospheres, VAR, these stupid rules, Sky's ridiculous narratives etc etc have all contributed to the demise initially started by money.

I decided a long time ago to not renew my season ticket and I confirmed that with the club today.

I've had a season ticket at Spurs since I was 7 (now 43). This is the first time that I'm actually considering calling it a day. Maybe it's because my old man died and it's not the same going without him. Or maybe it's because the Poch era has been so consummately dismantled to send us right back to where we started. But considering i was going home and away throughout the 90s it's not like I can't handle Spurs being shit. But in truth I think it's how bad the game is now with oligarchs and countries owning clubs. And now VAR has rendered football objectively not a good spectator sport any more. You can't even celebrate a goal.

I'm really giving some serious thought to calling it a day. Considering it's been my main passion since I was a kid, it's something I absolutely never thought would even cross my mind. But I certainly enjoyed there being no football and the possibility of not being totally consumed by it is quite attractive.

I give no fucks any more. It's a multitude of factors including the club direction the club has taken post Poch. During the hiatus I've been watching replays of World Endurance Championship races from the last 3 years and realised that it's given me far more enjoyment and excitement than I've had from watching any football over the last 2 years, with the exception of Ajax away.

Honestly I’ve been done with football for the last few years, I wished that we could have won that final last year and I could tell anyone that listened that nothing will ever top that for me so I’m out and just end the conversation there and then.

VAR has sucked any remaining life or enjoyment out of the sport that I once loved. There is absolutely no way you can Even dare celebrate a goal now as there’s a very high chance that it’s gonna get ruled out. That one last night and the one the night before go beyond the realms of understandable for me. The people making the excuses for them by saying they’re only following the laws of the game are equally as bad if you ask me. It’s become a pathetic spectator sport that everyone saw coming a mile off. Unfortunately because of social media, Sky etc. Chucking content at us 24/7 and peddling the best league in the world blah blah blah bull shit everyone has been brainwashed in to thinking that football is the be all and end all.

I hate everything about the modern game and the modern fan but what I hate most is that for all that I still can’t bring myself to unfollow it all.

Well I'm a fraud. I told everyone that I didn't miss it and how I'm not bothered about ever watching it again.

The realisation hit home that I was clearly full of shit when I started to panic search for Crystal Palace v Burnley just to get my daily injection of football.

What a pathetic human being I am!

I quite enjoyed it when it came back. A decent draw against a man utd team that's now not lost in 15 games, a win against Wet Spam things were looking up.

Should be a staright forward win over a sheff utd team that's not scored a league goal since the restart. Instead Sheff utd turn us over and i'm back to wishing it had never started.

An awful performance from a bunch of players who looked like they've never played together before.

This will be the first game in so many years i purposely choose not to watch. VAR killed this season dead for me in the first half of the last game. I hopefully might get back into it next season/year as deep down football as a sport is great, its brilliant and will leave a big hole to fill but football in 2020 fucking sucks, the rules suck, the money sucks, the players suck but mostly the fans and media suck, ironically being that there aren't any fans at the games now anyway.

But one thing i do know is that I'm done with this forum, i don't know quite how it took me so long to realise i was getting nothing out of posting here or reading another shitty negative post about the chairman or manager or brexit or fuck knows what else. I logged out for a week or so which i hadn't done for who knows how long and im better for it. I'm not getting angry at some irrelevant opinion i never needed to know about in the first place and im not being a sarcastic prick to strangers to make myself feel better about the shitty thing i just read. I don't like how it all makes me behave and there's no positive in wading through the bile and negativity while i distract myself from actual work im supposed to be doing in the hope of see something informative or interesting. It's just not for me any more.

This wasn't meant to be a big huffy 'im leaving, im a special boy' type post, more that i think we all need to get some perspective and work out what we are actually getting from the things we do. Though mainly i couldn't work out how to delete my account so i didn't want people to think in 2 years when someone vaguely remembers i was here that my house fell down or i left to start a career on Chaturbate and start looking for me.

that’s a shame mate. Hope that you come back one day after some time out and take it for what it is. You are right though there’s some pretty obvious trolls on here, two in particular that post in pretty much every thread to try and get a rise out of people. That’s actually pretty sad when you think about it although surely that says more about their sad lives than anything else?

anyway, enjoy the hiatus and hopefully one day you’ll return in the vague hope that we may actually win something.

I was in a huff last week, but then I see Man City spaff up against Southampton, and you know... this season is just mad, and its been ruined by Covid and VAR. Everyone is all over the shop. So fuck it, I'll still watch it, 'cause I'm a sap.

Cancelled my NOW TV and BT Sports subscriptions today, and also cancelled my DD for automatic One Hostpur membership renewal. I'm out. Y'all can buy me a beer when we inevitably go on to win the league next season immediately after I've given up on football. You're welcome.
Don't be downhearted tonight, chaps and chapesses, by my calculations you are set to win the next 37 straight league games.
