There's the question - if spurs offered a 'TV season ticket' so that you could watch every game in all competitions, how much would you pay for it? I have assumed a 50 game competition to allow for progress in the cup/European competitions.

A further question might be if you have a ST, would you also buy the TV season ticket? I suppose ST holders might want an 'away matches only' TV ticket if they don't travel.

I know theoretically it's complicated because you'd need agreement from all other clubs, etc. but I'm just interested to see what people would pay. For my part, I'd definitely pay up to £7.50 for a game. I might pay a tenner as well. I'm not sure I'd pay more because there are so many games. I'd also get one despite having a ST, but potentially just want the 'away' option.

For me I probably wouldn't buy one.

I gave up my actual Season Ticket this season, mainly due to finances as well as a disconnect with the club, so would be reluctant to stump anything up after 15 years of paying over the odds.

A game by game option may be more appealing rather than a lump sum.

Given that the only game I've managed to watch this season was Everton, and how that and subsequent matches have panned out, I think you ought to be paying me not to have one.

I'd have high willingness to pay. No travel cost connected to each game means even at a few hundred pounds I'd save per game, and I'd be feeling that I was supporting the club. In reality, I think extensive TV access is a much better cause for fans to petition than a petition for getting back in the stadium.s Put all the footie live on the internet for crying in the night.

£10 a game which equates to just under £42 a month for every game (year on year) would be about the right high end price.

It'll never happen with how much the broadcast rights are worth though.

As a Norwegian, I would love to. The only way to watch PL legally here, is a £70 a month subscription, and you aren’t guaranteed to see Spurs. If we play at the same time as Liverpool or Man United, they always get picked.
And that’s not counting for the cups and EL/CL, which are on different distribitors.

I’d probably pay £5 a game.

I wouldn’t, I hate watching us on TV. Watching at the stadium is the only way for me

Unless it was sold by the PL where all clubs get an equal split then it would be the end of football being competitive, but I'd go for £250 I suppose, any more and I'd seek other methods.

Sounds like clubs are actively getting a feel for where to pitch pricing. Even seen some Arsenal fans kicking off at proposals of £49 for screening of games :wideyed:

Personally I believe the pricing point needs to take into account the many other factors. I.e. you can’t pitch it at more expensive than a Sky / NowTV monthly sub with games also likely to be screened there too.

I’d like to see it positioned at a reasonable price point that would encourage people to watch via the official stream rather than find an illegal feed (of which there are many).

I think £3 or £5 are reasonable and would see much higher adoption/take-up rate than the higher price points baring in mind you can’t watch on your tv and would have to be via laptop/tablet.

I do wonder whether the PL should just stream every game on their own platform. Forget Sky and BT.

£10 a month for everything. Every game from every club.

Obviously this would only be for league games.

Or perhaps something more daring...

Absolutely free for everyone in the world and rake in the ad revenue. Would also obliterate the competition.

I'd probably pay a tenner a game, so 500 quid.

Would prefer pay per view though.

I keep saying this and think Simon Jordan has also copied me into saying - netflix style premier league games. People will still go to games but make netflix style PL for say £20 a month and watch any game any time.

Im sure im missing the complications and making it sound simple but the PL has its own product so none of this having to pay for shows or movies etc and make a bundle moreso than selling the rights to Sky etc

One of the big challenges with the "Premflix" idea is that amount of work required to setup the infrastructure. It's far from impossible, but the PL would need to come up with (through partnership) the studio setups, outside broadcast setups, commentators, pundits etc. and then all the sales and customer service personnel needed.

And just like Netflix took time to find their feet in terms of original programming, so would the PL. Their revenues would start low(ish) and build over time with continued investment. They might eventually make more money but nobody can predict how long that might take.

On the flip side of the coin is a whacking great chunk of money just from selling rights, and whilst their is an element of competition to selling those rights the prices will always be high.

The real rub is the influence of the clubs. Would Man City vote for a new system that would see their immediate TV revenues drop to less than their wage bill? Would a newly promoted club vote for a system that wouldn't see them making that huge jump from Championship to PL money?

I would personally love to see it because it's fairly expensive for me to get up to WHL, but I would imagine we would need to see something similar working both in the EFL here and probably in another European top league as well before the PL make the jump.

I'm into baseball and subscribe to MLB TV. Can watch every game live or later for $130 a season. Would love for the PL to do something like that, but they rake in so much money for TV rights across the world that I doubt they could make as much that way.

MLB does local blackouts (you can't watch Yankees or Mets games in New York for example) so as to create a market for teams to sell to regional broadcasters. But if the PL are selling rights to broadcasters with a national reach (which they are), there'd be pretty much nowhere you wouldn't be blacked out.

I dont know how much the PL make from Broadcasters but I would imagine they would make more as a sole provider/broadcaster of the PL through a Netflix type approach. Dont forget they simply have their own product, they dont need to buy or make or purchase anything.

As @vegassd mentioned, the infrastructure etc would be a fair bit of initial investment but I can only imagien it would be worthwhile and more money which in turn should then trickle down to the lower leagues (it can be factored in although this isidealism from me)
