I don't know why were not all over Kondogbia. Likely to be cheap and more experience than Sangare.

Nobody knows if he has legs anymore and we just had to beg Montreal to take our last DM who didn't have legs.

Whoever thought buying sissoko was a good idea let alone spending 30m on him needs to be shot.

And it’s even worse because that was 30M back when 30M was a lot. It would have bought Mane, Kante, Salah, etc. type player.

We’ve broken our club record transfer fee 3 times in the last 4 years (Sissoko, Sanchez, Tanguy). None of them are nailed on starters.

1B pound stadium. 0 spent on backroom/scouting/recruiting where our poor strategy and outcomes have gutted the club.

You're basically adding up what a number of different ITKs have said. No ITK has said we will be signing 8 players and that's incredibly unrealistic - Mourinho said we'd only be looking at 2-3 positions and whilst it will probably end up being a bit higher than that, it's not going to go from 2 positions to 7.

Yes we have Hojbjerg now but sometimes do wonder if Mourinho wouldn't mind another option of an all out, tall physical sitting DM. Sanagare has the height that Mourinho usually goes for but question marks for me about him on the ball. Looks OK when he has time and space but not sure his touch, control and feet are generally good/quick enough for a top 6 team in a league where he will will get less time and space.

We need another defensively sound centre midfielder. Its obvious.

So even more of a priority knowing that Reguilon is coming in.

Is Hojbjerg the 'right' type of DM to fulfill that role in a 352/343?

I'm not so sure. If only Wanyama was 24.

IMO if we move to a 433 which seems to suit our squad, Hojbjerg is not suited to being the deepest of the midfield 3. He is more effective as a destroyer ahead of the DM so bringing in someone like Sangare would be ideal. Next season I think Skipp could do this role too so we would be sorted for years to come potentially.

DM - Skipp, Sangare
CM - Hojberg, Winks
AM - GLC, Ndomble

For me that offers a lot of flexibility and energy, especially as GLC could play in all 3 positions if we wanted more creativity.

If Sangare is available for less than 10m then it is too good an opportunity to miss.

Very similar to the Liverpool style that has been so effective for them.

Liverpool have much better CB's than us so they can get away with leaving 2 at the back when the fullbacks bomb forward. I certainly wouldn't trust Dier and Alderweireld in a 433. I think 343 would be best suited to us and dier is also better in a back 3.

Liverpool have DM sitting in front of those 2 CB's though. Which is a route I'd like to see us go down.

Depends on who the DM is and how he's used. Not at all sure about how Mourinho seems to want Hojbjerg chasing the ball about when what we've needed since Wanyama fell to bits is a disciplined, defensive shield in front of our often shaky CBs.

This is our biggest remaining weakness in my opinion and it is glaring.

I actually think we can get by on creativity if we have a sitting DM who will fully unleash the new FBs and Gio/Tanguy/Dele.

I don’t know if Sangare is the guy, but that’s the spot in my opinion. Now that we have Bale, I’d gladly take a Bas Dost or Deeney at cheap backup striker if it meant we could put some funds into a real DM for the future.

Totally agree, a midfield controller is more fitting than another creator. We have players like Lo Celso and Ndombele who can make things happen, Winks also has an eye for a pass when not so shackled by defensive duties. Someone to knit it together is the missing link. Look at City, Silva and de Bruyne weren’t the missing cigs over recent seasons, things went awry when Fernandinho was out or having to play CB.

I'd take Weghorst as well. Sangare looks a bit of a no brainer for me if the money is right but I'd also have to wonder why we let Skippy go to Norwich when he's been very good whenever he got on the pitch for us, and doesn't (I believe) take up a squad place either.

Think weghorst would be a little pricier. I’ve seen in the 25-35 area. I’d really like him too, just don’t know if that would make a DM unobtainable.

I like Skipp a lot too. I’m not sure he’s truly that destroyer / holding DM, and I think a year in the Championship will help him immensely from a physical standpoint. Actually think Skipp is like a better version of Winks.

This is the only named linked but I think he is what we need.

Yes we need another CF and CB but we are 1 injury away to Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and we are back to square 1.

We could be contenders dependent on Jose tatics.
