I'd take him back in a heartbeat, question is would Levy ever want him back after what he did to us?

I'd take a guess at no.

The whole D of F things largelly depends on Redknapp. He isn't going to accept a D of F, though I'm sure sooner or later we'll appoint a Director of Youth development. Ironically Comolli would have been ideal for this role. If Harry leaves at the end of the season, then I'd be happy to have another D of F, but he'd have to be the right man, with the rigth experience. But I don't think the role is essential. If we had a Director of Youth Development and a top quality head scout, like Arsenal do in Steve Rowley, then we don't really need a D of F. As for Arnesen, i never really hold a grudge against people who leave the club to work for a more successful club. Obviously there are acceptions like Campbell who left on a free to Arsenal. But when you look at the success the likes of Sheringham and Carrick have had by leaving Spurs and compare it to Anderton who stayed loyal (despite an offer from Utd), then it's difficult to hold it against them when thinking rationally.

Yes!

Him leaving, for me, was the single biggest reason why we have fallen so dramatically.

Really? I can't remember him bringing in too many players who were massively successful. In fact I'm struggling to think of many who are still at the club.

I'm as concerned as anyone by Harry's current transfer 'policy' but I'm not sure judas frank was really that much of a star in the transfer market for us. Also I'm not sure how he really impacted on the rest of the club, and he obviously hasn't impressed at Chelsea either.

If we brought Arnie back I think it would probably be as both head scout and chief of youth development.

But, as I said, can't see it happening.

Harry Redknapp will never accept someone above him in that role.

It was why he left Pompey (Zajec?) and Southamption (Woodward)

ALso Levy said the DoF doesnt work and Comolli wont be replaced, and he can't lose face by going back on that.

Also even if we brought MJ back Im sure he'd never work under a DoF.

BTW the way Hamburg are losing players....I think a Jol-Levy reconciliation and Jol return could well happen by this time next year. As much as I want him back the club has lacked way too much consistency and Harry has done quite decent so far

I think criticism of Arnesen in the transfer market is unfair. He spent just over £30 million on 18 players. It doesn't matter who you are, when operating at that level, the amount of success's are going to be limited. He certainly improved the squad in a short space of time. But when he came to the club we'd just finished 14th and hadn't had European football for years. Attracting decent young or old players would have been very difficult. He did bring Jol to the club and though Pleaty would have started the scouting and deals for some of these players he did sign Carrick, Lennon, Huddlestone, Robbo, Dawson and Taino, who all contributed to our success between 2005-7. These players didn't cost much at all.

I would if we could and get someone he can work with. Doesn't look a remote possibilty with the current set-up.

Part of the issue?

He brought in Mido, Carrick, Dawson, Tainio, Davids, Lee, Jenas & Stalteri, all of whom were extremely important in us getting 5th the first time round, which in turn made us attractive to the Berbatovs of this world. None of them cost a lot either.

spot on, the problem is all the good work done by Mr Arnesen was ruined by that total arsewipe Comolli...my hate for this man grows on a daily basis

Not necessarily Comolli.

Most fans were ripping into Lee and Stalteri after that season, in my opinion for no good reason. Fans were up in arms, they all suggested we needed a new lb and rb, so we bought 2....

The main problem was we mucked about with the team too much trying to force the issue after that season.

We ended up bedding a new striker in, a new lb, new rb, a new cm and malbranque (whatever he was for).

Arnesen would not spend 15 million on Jones. Anyway Harry would never work under him

Who was the new LB? seriously I cant even remember? Was it Assou-Ekotto?

Yeah I think the lack of patience has cost us big style, lack of patience in the players and the coaches. Stalteri had a pretty good season, somebody just wanted a scapegoat for why we didnt win at Highbury. And later on the boos and ironic cheers after a completed pass after Lee made a mistake and Park scored at WHL were really really sad.

If it ain't broke dont fix it...and we broke it trying to fix it!

Arneson is to modern and intelligent for Redknapp. He doesn't appear to like change, hence the dynamic Bond being his number two. This is the same Bond who got sacked earlier on this year from the heady heights of Bournemouth.

I know his choice of backroom staff is so outdated. Roll on May and get this dross away from our club.

We really need a period of stability.
Ramos took the team apart and we consequently have no team spirit.
Redknapp is a good manager, we must give him time and support.

We always think that we are a couple of players off ManU, but that is clearly not the case, as demonstrated yesterday. If one team has inferior players, it nust compensate by competing for everything. That deflection that went up in the air for 5 secs with no Spurs challenge, illustrated it all. Harry needs time to build a team with character, not gutless primmadonnas.
