BBC Live Text
18:20 GOAL - Inter Milan 1-0 Tottenham (agg 1-3) - Antonio Cassano (20 mins)
Antonio Cassano has been lively and and the Italian barely needs to leave the ground to head home Rodrigo Palacio's cross from six yards.
HALF-TIME - Inter Milan 1-0 Tottenham (agg 1-3)
19:10 GOAL - Inter Milan 2-0 Tottenham (agg 2-3) - Rodrigo Palacio
And here's when Spurs fans begin watching the match through the lattice of their fingers. A stupendous through ball from Antonio Cassano bisects the Tottenham defence and Rodrigo Palacio calmly gathers, beating Brad Friedel with a low strike into the right corner.
19:16 SUBSTITUTION - An early Inter goal in this half was not what Spurs wanted, to say the very least. That strike forces Andre Villas-Boas into a defensive change, bringing Lewis Holtby on instead of Jermain Defoe to bolster the midfield.
19:30 SUBSTITUTION - Inter Milan 2-0 Tottenham (agg 2-3)
Twenty minutes remaining and Aaron Lennon is the next Tottenham player to be introduced to the San Siro crowd. The winger replaces Jake Livermore. Perhaps the Lennon's zip will pose questions of the Inter defence. For Inter, Fredy Guarin makes way for Ricardo Alvarez.
19:34 GOAL - Inter Milan 3-0 Tottenham (agg 3-3)
Antonio Cassano has been ever-present around the pitch this evening. After Kyle Walker fouls Javier Zanetti on the edge of the box, up steps Cassano and his free-kick finds its way through a bunch of Tottenham players and ripples the net thanks to a deflection from the protruding leg of William Gallas, whose attempted clearance goes all wrong.
19:37 YELLOW CARD - Inter Milan 3-0 Tottenham (agg 3-3)
Inter and Tottenham players engulf referee Ivan Bebek. He walks away from the melee and books Kyle Walker for diving, while Lewis Holtby is also added to the name of offenders for his protests. Spurs have enjoyed finer 10 minutes.
EXTRA TIME
20:04 GOAL - Inter Milan 3-1 Tottenham (agg 3-4) - Emmanuel Adebayor
Mousa Dembele, the saviour in Lyon, attempts a low strike from the edge of the box and his effort ricochets kindly from Samir Handanovic into the path of Emmanuel Adebayor, who prods the ball home from four yards.
20:25 GOAL - Inter Milan 4-1 Tottenham (agg 4-4) - Ricardo Alvarez
Tottenham have failed to deal with the threat of Antonio Cassano throughout this match and it's the Italian's cross which finds Ricardo Alvarez at the back post. A simple header to level the tie, but Spurs have that away goal.
YELLOW CARD - Adebayor

Tottenham Hotspur hold a commanding lead heading into the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie with Inter Milan.

A 3-0 victory at White Hart Lane means Spurs travel to Italy with one foot already in the quarter-finals.
It is important that they do not allow complacency to set in at Giuseppe Meazza, but will be confident of prolonging their European adventure.

Having seen Liverpool bring their impressive unbeaten run to a halt on Sunday, Andre Villas-Boas will also be looking for his side to start building momentum once more.

Inter would appear to be there for the taking, with the Serie A outfit having won just two of their last six matches in all competitions.

They will have to go looking for goals on home soil, and will look to draw inspiration from their last meeting with Spurs on Italian soil - when they raced into a four-goal lead before half-time.

Tottenham:

Tottenham will be without the suspended Gareth Bale on Thursday night.
The in-form Welshman is suspended for picking up a yellow card for simulation during the first leg, which was his third booking of this season's competition.

The now fully-fit Emmanuel Adebayor (knee) and winger Aaron Lennon (hamstring) have made the trip to Italy, but the latter faces a late fitness test.

Clint Dempsey has recovered from injury but has not travelled, and remains at the training ground ahead of a derby date with Fulham on Sunday.

Inter:

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is back for Inter after missing a defeat to Bologna at the weekend due to suspension.

Andrea Ranocchia has been included in the squad despite being operated on this week to cure a nose problem.

Diego Milito, Walter Samuel, Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Yuto Nagatomo all remain on the sidelines.

Tottenham's Gareth Bale is suspended for the Europa League last-16 clash at Inter Milan after receiving a third yellow card in the 3-0 first leg win.

Forwards Aaron Lennon and Emmanuel Adebayor travelled to Italy despite missing Sunday's defeat to Liverpool.

Midfielder Clint Dempsey is unavailable with a calf strain as are Younes Kaboul and Sandro with knee injuries.
When asked whether he would field a weakened side, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas said: "No chance."
He added: "There is no scoreline that could make us change six or seven players so we will play a strong team to make sure we go through in this competition.

"We take this game very seriously."

And the Spurs boss is confident his team will be OK without the suspended Bale.

"We've been in situation where he is not with us and we got results," said the Portuguese.

"Gareth can make a difference in any game, we know. We will miss him but we won't want to prove anything without him because we believe a lot in ourselves and also we believe in Gareth.

"It's not a case of proving anything. We just want to do our job to get through."

Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni admits it will take a huge effort to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.

"We want to do well and honour [the competition], but we know our situation and our numbers are limited," he said.

Stramaccioni has withdrawn Alvaro Pereira, Dejan Stankovic, Ezequiel Schelotto and Marco Benassi from his squad to face Tottenham.

Argentine pair Diego Milito and Walter Samuel are also missing through injury.

"Football is strange. 3-0 is difficult to overturn, but we'll be taking to the field to win," said Stramaccioni.

"We want to do well in front of our fans and win the game, and then as far as qualifying for the next round is concerned, we'll have to see.

"There's no point denying it - we're not playing well at present and it's up to me, as the coach, to find the way to give my players more security which they don't have."

Professional performance today please lads, no more silly mistakes like the L'pool game, I'd take a 0-0 draw but want a win more so for the traveling fans.

Totally. Although it might be said GB had a hand in - ahem - some of those goals...
Just a couple...

But we can't and I'm sure won't give up three goals tonight. Our defence is too good for that as long as we avoid more Liverpool-style brainfarts.

I expect Inter to look to prove a point, if we do a Bayern we will be in trouble.

I'm expecting a tough night for us.

Anyone know any channels in Germany this game is on? Last week Skysports were showing it but it looks like this week they are going for the Stuttgart game instead.

As for the match itself, I think we will have a hard time of it, but it doesn't have to be pretty. Arsenal have shown that when you have nothing to lose you are dangerous, so if we go out tonight thinking this game is won, then we will struggle.

I am hoping AVB is thinking away goal more than defend a 3-0 lead for 90 minutes.

if we score early/first then it's game over, as they will need 5. THAT should be what we are looking for, not a rearguard soak it up for 90mins.

I'd take a nervy 0-0 right now. Just looking to avoid another loss really and hopefully use it as a way to get over the weekend's result for the players.

I think we have enough quality in our side to beat Inter even on their own ground. I'd take a draw too and that would also be reasonable, but I'd be disappointed with a loss. After the Lolerpool game we need to get back into a winning mentality and losing tonight will give the media fuel for the fire even if we go through.

Actually i would take a controlled 1-0 defeat, maybe some wonder strike or lucky break.
Don't want nerves though creeping into our game, we have been excellent most of the season and have hardly looked like losing the whole time, not the time for nerves to start creeping in.

I understand no one wants to lose, but I would rather control the game and just remind people that the aim of the game is to win over 2 legs. Inter can win 2-0 as long as we are the better team and the goals were no one's fault, after all, the end result is then a 3-2 WIN.

Obviously i prefer a controlled 0-0 or win, but am just saying. This is the first season in an age where the team simply does not look like a headless chicken when things get a little on edge.

We might not be swashbuckling, but by god there is a real confidence in this team across 90minutes and that in my mind is what will see us across the finish line.

Obviously for those travelling supporters I hope we romp to a 4-0 win!! Sing your hearts out lads!

Good defensive performance and decent passing stats with intelligent forward passing is what i'd like to see. Even if we do leak a goal i'm hoping it's down to individual brilliance from an Inter player than poor positioning etc from us.

Maybe I'm asking too much, but this should be comfortable for us.

True dat. If our midfield does what it does, we'll be fine and look good doing it. Not sure we'll score though. The strikers seems have really given up after sputtering along for most of the season. Still, that hasn't stopped us lately I guess.

Hopefully we don't make this hard for ourselves. Would take a boring 0-0. Lets just get this game out of the way.
