AVB changed the tactics tonight and badly got it wrong. With Bale not playing and Lennon only coming on in the second half we lacked pace on the break which we have been so good at recently. Defoe looked off the boil, Adebayor wasn't great but improved second half. Anyone know why BAE wasn't playing and didn't even come on as a sub ? Walker made some shocking mistakes, Gallas should retire, and Dawson should play next European game. Oh and bring back Lloris as well.

I think Walker should have been pushed up to RW with Naughton behind him at RB and BAE at LB. Walker's great attacking but a bit distracted defensively, and we lacked width due to Bale, Dempsey and Lennon not being available to start. If AVB had instructed the full backs to push up then he should have compensated with extra cover in defence instead of playing 2 strikers - it was as though we were chasing the game when we should've been playing on the break and staying deeper. Time after time we senselessly attacked when we should have been keeping the ball instead. Lots of lessons to be learnt, luckily it didn't cost us a cup exit, though it did cost us in terms of player fatigue and knocking our confidence once again.

It was plain that both fullbacks were under instructions to bomb on, overlap and try to get the away goal. They started doing it almost from the kick off and kept doing it until we had conceded 2 goals. We were missing both quick wingers and they were our only source of width and pace.

Up until the Liverpool match, Walker had provided a succession of solid performances during our unbeaten run. It was hard to drop him on the basis of 12 matches without a loss.

Losing to Liverpool was down to individual errors. Shipping 4 goals last night was not, it was down to the manager's ill-chosen tactics and lack of adjustment.

I can't argue with that summing up. I just don't wish to see players feel that irrespective of their performance they become infallible. Several times last season Redknapp was singled out for abuse because he had so called "favorites" and what's good for the goose should be good for the gander.

One dodgy performance and our whole world is going to crumble!!!! Some people need to grow a pair of bollox - we've been excellent of late. We've got a very real chance of winning this competition, and of course finishing at least fourth, possibly third.
Plus the fact that although may seem to be off form, Inter are not or never have been push overs, especially at home. I think last week's result was really taken things out of context, hence complacancy and unrealistic exptectations. Not that I didnt expect us to go throught to the next round, but alot off people were kidding themselves when they thought it was going to be easy on the second leg.
