Our cap'n will be on Talksport in a bit, he's the player who's supposed to be calling in for the "Is he nicer than Linvoy Primus" feature.

For how long has Dawson been a "nice guy" for? And what has he done to earn himself that accolade? Speaking for myself, the only time I see him off the pitch is in interviews. But these can't be used to conclude that he's nice can they? He just answers questions like every other player.

One example that i can offer - during a meet-the-fans thing at the Spurs shop, a couple of years ago, he was chatting to one of the checkout girls and she mentioned that she hadn't had time for a break, so Dawson sent her off for a quick five minutes and took over the till, ringing through peoples purchases.

I'm sure that, if you really wanted them, there would be a queue around the block of fans who have stories of why he's such a top bloke, regardless of his form on the pitch.

I have never heard a single bad word said about him by anyone who's met him.

You can tell he's a nice guy, it just comes across.

Just an honest northern lad.

Thinking about it, since Jol left i don't feel we've got the same kind of attachment to our squad. We used to have so much banter with so many players, who appeared to really enjoy getting involved with the fans and were a lot more sociable. Robbo, Dawesome, Thudd, Keano, King Ledley, Salty, Disco, Teeemu, Lennon - sure, talent wise they varied massively, but they were all fun. They weren't afraid to post up a funny pic or have a bit of a laugh with the fans during warmups.

I suppose in some form it existed with Harry at the reigns, but by the time Andre came along it was gone and any sense of football being a game to enjoy with the fans was clearly stamped out early on and professionalism was the order of the day. Don't see Timmeh letting that change either, but it would be nice to feel like i could pick more than just Dawson out of our squad as a guy that i'd like to sit down and have a few pints with.

Cost of success? Dunno.

A couple of times Dawson and Jake Livermore came to watch a team I played for because one of their mates played for us. Dawson seemed such a genuine man. A true gent who had time for everyone. Signed all the kids autographs, had pictures and spoke with people after the game. Just a generally all round nice guy. Livermore didn't get as much attention as it was a few years ago and and he was quiet.

This, 100%. I have also heard some of the awesome stuff he has done privately, not just in "footballer" or "PR" mode but just "family man" and "human" mode.

Nothing is too much touble for him. At the family pre-season game against Espanyol, he is the only player to stop and sign everyone's autograph. Some did some (like Soldado) or none at all (like Paulinho, Kane).

I'd rather have a team od Dawsons than a team of Berbatovs.

I met him a couple of years ago on a midweek raceday at Newmarket, it was fairly quiet and he was with another guy, didn't notice him at first as I was stood next to him for one of the races. Was really chatty and interested and wanted to know how long i'd been a spurs fan etc. Absolute gem of a bloke who always gives 100% how and why people knock him is beyond me.
