Tottenham Hotspur have recently said goodbye to Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen. The 33-year-old confirmed he will be leaving Tottenham when his contract expires at the end of this month and most Spurs fans are wishing their long-serving defender all the best in his next endeavour.

Actually, I'd be quite happy to see him join City.

Letting him go was the right decision for everyone, if he'd stayed he'd have been on big wages as a backup and taking game time from Tanganda and Foyth.

If there is one player I would be delighted to see win silverware it's Jan (obviously, so long as it's not at the expense of us!)

A last payday and winners medal of some sort is nothing less that he deserves.

I hate seeing long serving players sign for other Prem clubs.

Jan has been amazing for us both in ability and attitude but he has declined very quickly. It happens.

I hope he finds a team abroad and gets a final payday and a title.

City can potentially give him more cash a few more years of rain to have a generationally life security might be tempting enough.
