Losing 1-0 to Everton isn't really a "shocking defeat". They have a quality team now

Yes, but it’s the fact that we played so badly at home that winds fans up. Losing 1-0 to any side isn’t that bad on paper, but if you go all season thinking that’s OK, we won’t win shit.

Blaming players nice sound bites but not good to do in public yet typical publicity seeking from the manager

Perhaps the lazy attitude in setting up the team; planning tactics and using subs to make a difference would have been as apt

Saw the interview and now read the quotes. He certainly didn’t blast the players.

He gave a calm analysis of a poor performance.

He also didn't call the players "lazy" and explicitly corrected the SKY interviewer when he picked Mourinho's comments up in that way. He said we were guilty of lazy pressure. I've seen this sort of headline a couple of places...it's almost like it's lazy journalism.

FWIW, Mourinho was spot on in everything he said yesterday. I don't think he really threw anyone under the bus. He just gave an honest appraisal of a very poor and very disappointing performance.

Absolutely agree with you 100%. I only ever watch the whole pre and post match press conferences on youtube, rather than read any slanted agenda driven reports via other media. Then and only then can you get the truth (although no doubt some people will still get the wrong end of the stick!).

Correct.

It saddens me that adults read Talksport and can’t see past the nonsense.

Being fair and impartial, I like that Jose is here. The lack of fans at the grounds has rendered most if not all matches as boring and uninteresting. I find myself getting distracted when watching on the telly which didn't happen before. I didn't see this game, but the quality, urgentcy and pace, as well as passion is lacking or non exaistant with the fans absent.

More in sorrow than in anger I thought.
But if the team aren't up for
the first game of the season
against a team we usually beat
he has to share at least
some of the blame
if not a lot.

I thought we pressed well in the first half and though Everton had the lion of possession, we had the better chances. I thought we looked solid enough in regards to restricting them. 2nd half we we're poor and the pressing had dropped off. JM seemed to have no answers though.

Fucking hell, it's the first game of the season.
Yes, it wasn't a good performance but some people are really jumping the gun here.
