Jose Mourinho has responded with an impassioned defence of his influence on strikers amid criticism that his playing style will not bring out the best of Harry Kane at Tottenham.

Come on be fair, we do have a style, its the same one as that glorious cup winning Wimbledon side.
Didn't you see that pass or boot by Dier into space in the second half.
Same style that got us through the Champions League semi final last year? Yeah, sometimes it's effective, innit? Horses for courses.

F*cking hell - can't we merge this into the (let's moan about) Jose Mourinho thread?

Sometimes. Right now it seems it will be all the time. We played this way since Dec 22.
We all see it differently, I disagree that is the only way we have played since Dec 22, but subjectivity and all that.

The Bergwijns pass from the Man Utd corner to the blade of grass just off the centre circle was Hoddle-esque

I think people need to lay off tbh. We have been poor for a couple of seasons now, Pochettino had lost the dressing room, which was resoundingly shown by Tony quickly signing a new deal when he went.

Mourinho has had a tough ask. To take over a team low in confidence, using a whole new staff, having a ridiculous number of injuries and a pandemic to contest with. Give him some time ffs.

I don’t like seeing Winks and Sisokko start in midfield but you have to realise we are a work in progress. Whilst on the back foot against Utd we were very unlucky not to win. Let’s see how things develop over the months to come

I hope you're right.

Impassioned defences lose credibility when you just make up numbers. He just claimed Drogba averaged over 46 goals a season under him. This is worse than Rafa's facts!

This is a pretty dumb quote
"And Jose won't want to play like he did when he first got in there and it was 4-2 and 5-3, no way. He'll like those games like Friday night, 1-1."

Jose would preffer us to draw rather than win by two goals? i cant think of a 5-3 either but could be my mistake, also looking at our results we were not scoring much till Jose took over.

Yet the murmurings are that Sanchez and Dier may be first chocie and Toby may be sold? so perhaps Poch knew...

People are criticising the style and i think there is certainly a case for that, even i have been critical. The squad definitely needs work but if you bring in a different manager to the one who was performing 'poorly' then you kinda expect some change in positive direction.

Jose deserves a window but if Levy doesnt back him (although I appreciate the Corona impact on finances) then we have a problem.

It depends what you mean by being backed. He will get some kind of budget but there is definitely going to have to be some creativity. In terms of a change in a positive direction, well it’s too early to tell. There have been encouraging signs over the last two matches so we’re in a watch she wait situation I suppose.
