A quick look around suggests he plays a similar role to what Dier played for us in the past (dropping into CB if needed) but with the advantage of more mobility. Could be a good way to refresh the squad. Sell Wanyama or Dier, bring Phillips in and offer Skipp to Leeds on loan.

Doubt you'd do that with someone who is already 23; 24 in December. Would be expected to make an impact now, surely.

The thing is, I doubt Wanyama would pass a medical anywhere and he's on pretty big wages, so I can't see him being sidelined in favour of a young prospect. I also very much doubt Dier will be going anywhere. We also have Sipp who has proved himself capable. Just my opinion.

Could be a strategic move from the Phillips camp if he’s negotiating a new deal. This tweet was from 6 days ago.

Given that Poch has an excellent relationship with Bielsa, and we’ve already negotiated with them for Clarke, I think they’d know if we were actually interested.

The more i think about the link (and i didn't realise his age) then common sense says it's absolute bollocks.

Not in a million years do we spend £30m on a DM who's only played at Championship level, especially given our budget and other targets. If you then say 'oh but we can sell Dier to fund it' then that's equally unlikely as you just don't get rid of a solid, experienced International DM and bring in a totally untried one instead. Just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Had he been 19 or 20yrs old and £10m then yeah, can see the thinking, but as it stands it just doesn't add up at all, not even a little bit.

Why not? We just broke our transfer record for a guy who plays for a side that finished third in a weaker league than the league Phillips side finished third in with him as their best midfielder.

Yeah he’s a tidy passer and a lot more mobile than Dier and Wanyama. Would be a good addition if we can shift some midfielders. Still, he’s not as young as you might think and it does make you wonder how someone like Skipp would perform in a similar role under Bielsa

loan them Skipp in return, then, and we'll find out.

Villa bid £11m, Leeds may say they want £30m. Value is probably somewhere in between.

Hopefully nothing in this, we already have wanyama, and dier

And more importantly a ton of our own academy kids who specialise in holding midfield.
Skipp, Jamie Bowden, Harvey White, and Luke Amos

Wanyama isn’t good enough.

Hmmmmm because of an injury, I'll wait before writing him off based on last season.

“For me it was a difficult season and I was tired for a long time because of injury,The African Championship is a good opportunity to regain my level and prepare my fitness fully before the holiday and then prepare for the new season, which will be a new personal challenge.” -Wanyama
