I wouldn’t be against this but I don’t see why we need 5 cb’s unless Vertonghen isn’t the only one to leave in the summer

maybe the plan’s to loan tanganga out?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

Jan (obviously), Foyth and maybe downsizing Toby. He's only got one more year to his contract.

I think Tanganga will be back up RB next season
I’d prefer we had a proper rb but we love a square peg in a round hole

To be fair to Tanganga he hasn't looked out of place at full back when he's played there. He has a lot of development ahead of him and could turn out to be a real hybrid type. Ideally I'd like there to be two specialist right backs in the first team squad fighting for starts, but given the constraints there will be on the budget and the likely 'strangeness' of the transfer window we could be in a worse position than having Japhet as a back-up for two positions.

I just want our young players playing games rather than stagnating as we’ve done for the last few seasons.

if tanganga is back up rb fair enough but I’d prefer a proper rb

I see Tanganga as being similar to Joe Gomez who played more for Liverpool at RB initially but has developed into a top class CB

yeah I don’t doubt he can do a job there, I wouldn’t worry about him letting us down but I’d still prefer two proper rbs

If we sign Kim to replace Jan, but have in mind that we would loan him out to acclimatise (acclimate wtf?) him to the PL/ European football, that hopefully gives us longer term solution to Toby.
Foyth on loan too gives him development time, but still leaves us 4 CBs for next season.
Dier
Sanchez
Toby
Tanganga
In a years time, we could think about moving Toby on, and one of those two may be ready to step up.

Foyth’s a good example why I think five cbs is too much, he’s hardly played and his career is going no where at the moment

The thing is he would have played a lot if Tanganga didn't break through/Poch was still the manager. I think we have to be clear our current defensive team has a lot o CB's but those players are covering for the fullbacks too.

Foyth and Tanganga both need games, either play them or loan them out.

Same goes for Skipp and Parrott.

Foyth was set to be a starter this season, played in 17 games last season including starts against Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City & Dortmund. His career was going places before Mourinho took over.

If we signed him he'd probably need the best part of a season to settle into the team and the league, by which point Toby will be reaching the end of his Spurs career. The Chinese league is nowhere near the level of the EPL - within a month a broken old man Dembele had a Messi-esque compilation of nutmegs and driving runs, so there would no doubt be an adjustment period for him.

He really does look like a genuine "monster" physically though, so I think he'd be an intriguing, if slightly risky, signing if we can afford him.

Dier/Sanchez/Kim/Tanganga could be a solid set of CBs going into 21-22.

As a 4th choice CB I think he could be ideal. Because of the time he might take to acclimatise to English football, I think he would be happy to bide his time. In a season or two we could have a monster on our hands as he seems to be a real dominant figure. There would also be lower expectations of him from most fans so he could grow into the team.

It seems likely that we'll be in the Europa League next season. That's bad news in certain respects, but it does mean that we'll be able to blood new signings and young players in the group stage against fairly poor opposition. Our squad depth should be more than sufficient to ensure that we progress to the knockout stage, and the Europa League has provided a platform for players to settle and/or break through to the first XI in the past (look no further than Kane).

Add in the domestic cups and there should be a decent number of opportunities to give talented but as yet untested signings such as Kim chances to play and settle into the team next season.

For now we need to utilise him more in a full back role as he’s still got a lot to learn before he can be trusted in central defence. He hasn’t made any horror mistakes but he’s been easily turned inside out a couple of times which have led to the opposition scoring.

Not sure how you're supposed to scout this guy if he's only played his club football in sub-par professional leagues.

Even his international caps are against mainly ropey opposition (check Transfermarkt for details).

If he's coming in to be 4th choice for around £15m, I'd rather we just bought the best young homegrown prospect from the Championship.

That said, perhaps his physical attributes/performance data indicates that he could make the grade, so who knows?

Not being funny but anyone coming from anywhere other than the French, German, Italian or Spanish leagues are coming from sub par leagues.

One of you lot needs to get on the blower to Danny boy because he's clearly wasting a fortune on scouts when the only games we need to be looking at are on the box from the big 5 leagues.
