So, based off those numbers it’s likely Foyth out, KMJ in. No way of knowing if that’s an upgrade, but if KMJ is the profile Mourinho wants, not sure you can really get too bent out of shape about it. I personally love Foyth and hope if we sell him we insert a buy back clause.

When we’re defending a lead or holding on for a draw late on we need a dominant physical presence in defence. Bringing on K M-J fits this need to a T. We’ve always had a soft side when defending corners and free kicks therefore by having say Dier, Alderweireld and K M-J on the pitch we should be more dominant than we are now.

Agree. Big Foyth fan myself and think we will end up regretting his sale if he goes, but you have to back the manager and get who he wants. Still see this bloke as more risky than just playing Foyth tbh. Would be interesting to see what input Ledley King has on defender sales/purchases now he's heavily involved in coaching them.

Really think lad would be a pointless signing if I’m honest.

Dier, Toby, Sanchez, Tanganga and CCV seems more than enough for me

He has rare combination of being tall and quick, plus he can really pass the ball. Even if he flops you can live with it, worth a risk with his potential. Mourinho is learning Korean and he probably thinks he can coach him into being top CB.

In fairness, unless you do and I apologise in advance, none of us really know what he's like or how he would do in the PL

Fabrizio Romano on Last Word on Spurs podcast said Kim Min-Jae was only agent talks and nothing advanced

Watched him play in a ChInese League game the other day - and the football is dreadful and I will watch anything - have to say it was hard to see if the player had any real merits - wouldn't touch him with a barge pole especially at what is a ridiculous price he would need to be loaned out immediately would be nowhere near our first team or any other in the premier league frankly you might as well keep CCV

I've seen people talking about this deal elsewhere. We're still interested in getting this done. Chinese transfer window works slightly differently, hence the delay. Could we'll go the distance, but he's not seen as a prinary for the start of the season so that's not an issue.
Thanks for the info. I'd really like us to make all our signings a priority for the start of the season. I know that's easier said than done.

Is this the third summer transfer window where there has been talk of CCV either being moved on or finally being given a shot in the first team set-up?

Have any of the teams he’s been at on loan tried to make his move permanent?

I’m quite sure Luton would take him, he was a rock for them and played quite a role in their escaping relegation. Don’t know if they have any cash at all to spend though, probably the same with a lot of Championship clubs.

I was initially impressed with his attributes and potentially what he can give as mentioned in the quote above, .... However i have seen the highlights of his last 4/5 games and wow he has been poor, positionally erratic and in no mans land for some plays, looked out of his depth, lack of communication between his defence (might not be all him of course), unaware of opposition players around him in the box and looked a long way off a player from his good youtube highlight reels.

Maybe his head isnt there and has been turned as he has been stopped by his club / manager from a press interview duty he had planned to do because of the speculation of his transfer and therefore not a good time for the player to be distracted more and that was pretty much the comment from his manager Bruno Génésio.

You can just search the highlights of their initial 7 games hes played in all but one so far search for Bejing Guoan: https://www.youtube.com/c/WKLChineseFootball/videos

Reminds me of early Younes Kaboul

Considering that CCV only has one year left of his contract (unless we have an option to extend), I would assume that any fee we could get would be pretty small.

Ah, good point.

Wasn’t able to watch any of the pre-season games in full. It seemed he wasn’t massively tested from the snippets of his involvement in the highlights, but I suppose there’s every chance Jose has seen something in him at training to warrant keeping him around, at least enough to run the rule over him with a couple of turnouts. It would be handy if he was ready to step up, particularly if Foyth were to move on. Homegrown quota and all that as well as extra depth at the back.

If selling Foyth and keeping CCV was the difference between being able to sign a back up striker or a genuine first team striker then I think it makes sense. It would also free up another non hg space in the squad meaning our striker search could be widened.
