I get the injuries argument.

Piatek might well be just what we need, but I believe we need Lamela more at the moment. His presence in the squad is influential.

Agree. He always shows passion and commitment on the field and I'm sure he will be influential in helping Gio along the way.

Chelsea consider late transfer swoop for Krzysztof Piatek amid Tottenham interest
The Blues are switching to Krzysztof Piatek with first-choice Edinson Cavani of Paris Saint-Germain closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid

Chelsea are poised to launch a late challenge to Tottenham for the signing of AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.

The Blues are switching to the 24-year-old Poland International with first-choice Edinson Cavani of Paris Saint-Germain closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid.

Piatek had been in negotiations with Spurs but the north Londoners moved on to Real Sociedad’s Willian Jose after failing to agree an initial loan deal with Milan.

As the transfer deadline approaches, however - and with Jose priced out of a move to Spurs by Socieded - Spurs are set to return to Piatek.

Now, though, Chelsea are interested as Frank Lampard hunts more firepower ahead of the second half of the season.

West Ham have expressed an interest but Piatek has rejected them in favour of a move to a bigger club.

Seriously do Chelsea have any fucking scouts or do they just wait to see who we have our eye on, sit on their arses until a few days before the window closes, and then swoop in with their oil money?
Fkin seems like it.
Wankers.

thats been their strategy for years tbh. Am sure they didn’t want or need half the players they’ve signed, they just do it to stop their rivals from signing them

It's not like we haven't had long enough to do this particular deal though, we'd only have ourselves to blame IMO. Not saying I know the intricacies of a deal or that it's that black and white or simple but there's obviously something holding us back on really completing the move, whether that be strictly financial or weighing up other options or something else.

I just want a striker of similar capability, ability or prospect. Cant say I'm too fussed as to who specifically.

Gards (offline): "So the hold up with Piatek
We want an option and Milan want an obligation, everything else is agreed, loan fee etc.
Problem is the above is a pretty big part of the deal
Milan are no fools, I expect 6 months with obligation is what they are after"

I do think that's reasonable from Milan, personally. Hopefully the resolution is that option we wanted becomes an obligation but at a slightly cheaper price.
