Totally agree. Good players on form from other leagues sometimes fail in the prem. This dude is off form, and according to popular concensus doesn't offer much bar goal scoring. Massive risk, loan with option is definately the best course of action.

Piatek form is not off form - not by the extent some seem to suggest. He scored 30 goals all comps last season and this season has scored 4 goals in 14 games. Yes, there is a fall in goals but 1 in 4 games isnt the most awful - most of this can be attributed to how bad Milan are in creating chances.

Yes loan would be great. But this is Jan window, where the number of players available for a position is very less. We desperately need a striker. Beggars cant be chosers. If we dont sign a striker, our chance of top4 this season is next to nothing. You cant throw away money at Jan signings but at same time, we got to take calculated risks. Also, this window, Chelsea, United also in for strikers with the injuries they face.

If the player is available, then we got to go for him, even if it would mean he could end up 5 or 8m extra. Cost over run in one player could be compensated in other signings. Piatek is just 24 - so even if he has avg 2 season scoring 10 each, still we could recover most of what we pay him.

There is hardly any good striker available this window. I would splash the cash on him.

I'd guess we're trying to force them to show their hand a bit - if they absolutely won't consider a loan for any reason, it does weaken their bargaining position by essentially proving they've given up on the player and need to move him. Doesn't stop someone else from outbidding us though, and Chelsea seem to be looking for a striker...

True, but what striker are they selling and to what club? You don't think these kind of things go on?

We are not a charity Lamela has not been value for money never fit for a season and never will be... If we get a decent offer we should take it
With a very heavy heart I actually agree with this sentiment. I love Lamela. I love his intensity. I love his passion. I love that he isn't another powder-puff like Dele, Sonny, Moura and Eriksen. But sadly, his availability is hit-and-miss. And if sacrificing him means bringing in a player that fits an immediate, more significant need, then you might have to consider throwing sentimentality out the window.

Dragging on this one. Has a nail biting deadline day feel about it

It seems like its him or nobody in relation to us bringing in a Striker

If it goes as far as deadline day with a potential deal still up in the air, i doubt it will happen (to us anyways, he might join someone else)

We need a forward and I have seen this of play about three times - and watched obligatory highlights - I’m really not sure what to make of him. Good finisher and hard worker ? Is that about the jist of it ?

People genuinely discussing swapping Lamela for Piatek? Wow

We all know Lamela's ceiling, he isn't a player that can play week in week out that you can rely on to achieve top things so why waste his place in the squad when we can use it and the money generated to give fresh blood a go?

We don't need a bloated squad and even though I like Lamela, he is one of the weaker ones in a squad of 25 being honest so let's shift out the lesser ones and bring stronger options in. Lamela presses and nags away at the opposition but in all honesty what else does he do? We only need one of Lamela or Lucas if we want to improve and if that's the case it's Lucas all day long in our 25 man squad for me.

We obviously aren’t convinced so only want the loan. Milan need the money for purchases so they want to sell or have an obligation to buy in the summer. 50 50 it happens or we go for the dude from sociedad I reckon.
