Few of the ITK's on here are saying it's an obligation with Gio so that we have to buy him and that the way the deal is structured is that if we wait until summer it's dearer than it is now

... unless we wait and we don’t qualify for CL as that is supposedly the cheapest variation. I can imagine if that is the case then Levy would prefer to wait until the summer - the player is ours either way and we only pay more if we have the CL cash cow next season, otherwise we get the best price.

Times are reporting we've offered Lamela / Foyth into the deal and Milan are considering it. If it's true for Lamela than that's another player who is unlikely to feel great about still being around for rest of season (if he doesn't leave) to add to rose, Foyth, wanyama, walker peters (for game time) possibly Jan because he hadn't signed a new deal yet, eriksen now gone so this can't be great for team morale.

Losing eriksen and Lamela in one window would seem very rash. I would keep Lamela at least until the summer like the way he links up with lo celso both very hardworking with that extra bit of quality that can unlock teams centrally. Something winks dier Ndombele and sissoko are not known for

Agree with you mate but might be a case where we are trying to balance the books and to do that we might need to lose someone that we might not want to but the player coming in meets a bigger need?
Plus as much as I like Lamela can we really rely on him given his injury record?

Might seem harsh on Lamela but given his injury record and the fact that Alli and Lo Celso + possibly Bergwijn can all play in that position, it sort of makes sense. I'm not sure what Mourinho's vision of the squad is exactly but in the past he's always liked having two designated players for each position. Adding Piatek to deputize for Kane probably means Mourinho wants to streamline the squad in other positions.

Lamela isn’t going anywhere. He was our only attacker on the bench v Southampton,

Now imagine how good our bench looks with Lamela, Lucas and Piatek. Then look at the pitch where you can find Son, Dele and Bergwijn.

Then imagine that Kane gets fit...

Guys, with the whole loan situation. Are the rules that you can make 4 loan signings in a season but only have 2 registered at one time? Meaning we would need to sign Lo Celso to get Piatek on loan. Or is that incorrect?

I think it means you can only register 2 in each registration period (each transfer window) but can have 4 overall, otherwise the rule is pretty pointless as who would ever loan 4 if you couldn't play 2 of them.
So you can register 2 in the summer and 2 in January

Edit: think that's wrong, this is correct: In the Premier League, clubs can only loan two players from other Premier League sides, but 'international loans' do not count towards that quota,

I don't get the thinking of some who want to move on Lamela. He's been very unlucky with injuries but when he is on the pitch he brings another level of intensity, aggression, passion and tempo that other players sorely lack. He raises the bar for his teammates and outside of matches I bet he has the same positive influence in raising everyone's game in training. You need alternative options on the bench, and you know with him coming on that he will add bite and play with his head up to link play in the final third.

Would the loan fee come off the end price, given its so high?

That appeared to be the case with Lo Celso, which is what leads me to think this info could well be accurate. Loan with option favours the buying club, so you'd expect the selling club to be compensated.

Sceptical we are involving Lamela in any deal after mourinho’s Words on him the other week. I guess the player may want a move back to Italy but I get the feeling he is settled in london.
