Not really, they're paid to spend their days watching and analysing football and some of them have even published books on the subject of tactics etc. so to say they have a limited understand of the game is harsh. I'm not talking about the random people who just write nonsense transfer rumour nonsense but the proper journos who write proper analysis. Players obviously have an insight into certain aspects of the game that you can only get by playing, but that doesn't necessarily make them better at analysing a game they're watching, especially not if they're unable to articulate anything properly. For all we know Shearer is an absolute tactical genius but if he isn't able to get that across then he's still a shit pundit who offers no more insight than any random bloke who's watched the MOTD highlights.

I got a good example of this. Freddy Ljungberg is the new pundit on EPL / CL matches on swedish telly and he's just awful. He can hardly put a sentence together the few analysis he does produce are just general sports cliches. He loves talking about Arsenal though. :hungover:

The best pundits in my opinion are usually ex-managers / coaching staff. Lars Lagerbäck (Former manager for Sweden, Iceland, now Norway), occasionally on swedish TV for CL, is really just a joy to listen to. He's not the most charismatic person to say the least but the way he just deconstructs tactics and team setups is fantastic.
The only sky pundit worth his salt is Davey Provan, unbiased & fair in my opinion.

He deleted his tweet about Masuaku, good ole Carlton Cole found it!

That tweet is truly disgusting. Along with the spitting incident it confirms to me that Carragher is just a low life scumbag who was fortunate to become a multi millionaire by being half decent at kicking a ball around a pitch. His totally disproportionate reaction to being reminded about the score of a football match suggests he has some serious anger issues. My sympathies to the girl for being stuck between two poor excuses for humanity.

Lol, shame it's fake but I still have the same opinion of him for the spitting video alone (although such an extreme reaction to such minor provocation makes me think there maybe other skeletons in his closet)

It makes me think that a lot more went on that didn't make the clip.
Im not defending him, it was disgusting.

Anyone else kinda surprised by the fathers reaction immediately after the spitting? Almost like he was happy? Im not a father but I feel i'd have lost my shit completely if someone spat at a member of my family.

Yeah I'd have been swearing like a trooper at Carragher myself.

The dad sounds like a right dick (including using his phone whilst driving on a duel carriageway with his young daughter in car - he should be fined and given points on his license, not just a 'talking to' by police, which is a heh, kop-out (sic)).

He won't be sacked unless sky viewers start on mass to threaten cancelling their subscription, which i doubt will happen.
That's obvious or he wouldn't have been allowed anywhere near sky yesterday trying to save his job.

But i cannot see how he can possible be a credible pundit anymore, he will hold back so much all that will be left is his whiney voice and him sitting on the fence when conduct is an issue.

There's two reasons for that, firstly they need to launch an investigation which means they need to hear his side of the story, and secondly putting him on Sky Sports News gets them viewers in and wins them back some goodwill from anyone thinking they were distancing themselves from him.

The first comments I read from Carragher on this said that it was a lot more than just "2-1". Obviously it's still disgusting and doesn't excuse him in any way, but I'd like to know the full story.

"I knew there was someone else in the car, and I knew it was a female, but I didn't know it was a young girl."

Oh, that's ok then..

It wasn't sky sports new , it was sky news, available free to every household in the country.
I can't help but feel if they were going to sack him, or were even thinking about sacking him, they would be distancing themselves from him altogether...the interview was the direct opposite of that.
I reckon he'll be on his first and final warning.

I think they probably want to keep him, but it may come down to what their sponsors demand. If they threaten to pull the plug if he's kept on then he's going to lose his job.

You could be right but I imagine they're not short of companies queueing up to sponsor EPL.
Sky might just feel its not worth the hassle though, he's already had his contract cancelled with some Danish sports channel over it.
