They always seem to get a dead easy group in the CL.

Meanwhile this article made me laugh. Like you said about Guardiola moaning about players being too expensive above, City always seem to plead poverty when they’ve been one of the biggest factors in price and wage inflation over the last decade.

Perhaps if they hadn’t spent sixty million on Mahrez to sit on their bench, then they’d have been able to squeeze a centre back into their FFP equations.

I’m staggered that either Liverpool or Manchester City didn’t bid for Toby in the summer, he’s certainly better than any of city’s CD’S and imagine him and Dick van dyke together, even if VVD gets injured they’d have a topCD to bring in. It just seemed strange to me!

I see these articles and just think it’s a PR exercise by them ahead of this UEFA investigation into their spending. They’re just now looking like they don’t want to spend money because they’ve been caught out with their financial doping and accounting practises in the past.

As for a defensive problem. Play an academy kid. That is what it’s their for. In fairness to guardiola he hasn’t complained but said he’s looking forward to dealing with the situation.

They definitely got lucky with the draw this time, but being a seeded team in Pot one for the draw means that you're almost certain to go through unless you're very unlucky with the draw. I'd love to see an unseeded draw where the only restriction is that you can't have two sides from the same country, but obviously then you'd risk one of the big clubs going out at an earlier stage which would cost UEFA money so they obviously won't do it.

Yeah it'll never happen cos of the money factor, as you say, but I've thought the same thing for ages. The whole tournament would be so much more exciting if it wasn't seeded. The seedling just renders the group stage almost a complete formality with the exception of one or two teams every 5 years or something. If money weren't a factor then the ideal scenario would be just do away with the groups altogether and go straight knock-outs unseeded all the way through. You could even make each round 2 legs I suppose.

Oh well, we can but dream.

I saw someone say that seeding is the legal version of hot and cold balls, it's no better than any illegal kind of rigging. I agree.

I suppose the difference is just that they're up front about the seeding. If they did it secretly though then you're right it would be exactly like the hot and cold ball thing.

A screenshot of the tweet in question is in the article. Even if it's "harmless friendly banter", posting it on a public forum is not cool.

I'm a big believer in context is everything, but you still shouldn't post stuff like to the public, I don't know how people don't understand this.

Exactly. If you have a friend you are comfortable enough to joke around with then great but putting stuff online gets a backlash.

Even decent media outlets run stories on “Twitter users are outraged,” when are they not?

Completely agree. According to the article Bernardo even posted a follow-up tweet that just shows he has no idea what Twitter actually is. It's a public community, not somewhere you can post private, inside jokes that look awful when taken out of context.

The Portugal international later tweeted: “Can’t even joke with a friend these days... You guys …”

Oh well, I'm sure they can just bung another 1/4 a billion at some other world class players in a couple of months to sort that out.

Zinchenko out for up to six weeks now.

And Rodri is out with a hamstring issue:

Zinchenko is crap though so not too big a miss

Hilarious, in a way, that all that money and they still complain about weakened squad etc

Hilarious, until it hands them divs at Liverpool the title...

This sums up the bullshit World we live in. People faking things to make money. Influencers and the social media lies are a huge huge problem.

Laughable. Why on earth would City accept that deal? I'd much rather have Sterling than Bale at the moment and the 70m cash is of almost no consequence to a team like City. Rightly or wrongly, Sterling must be worth getting on for 200m in the stupid market we live in so why would they trade him in for a crocked 30+ year old?
