Manchester City is disappointed but not surprised by today’s announcement by the UEFA Adjudicatory Chamber. The Club has always anticipated the ultimate need to seek out an independent body and process to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of its position.

In December 2018, the UEFA Chief Investigator publicly previewed the outcome and sanction he intended to be delivered to Manchester City, before any investigation had even begun. The subsequent flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process he oversaw has meant that there was little doubt in the result that he would deliver. The Club has formally complained to the UEFA Disciplinary body, a complaint which was validated by a CAS ruling.

Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity.

Glad someone has finally stood up to clubs like city.. be good to see PSG be dealt with the same as well.

However sadly though we all know how this will end city will appeal and the ban will be reduced to suspended ban and they will probably just get a small fine.

They'll appeal it, get it suspended so they can play next season and then either get it overturned or reduced to a year

This is the most likely scenario. All UEFA bans whether transfer or competition or anything are almost always halved upon appeal.

May be a bit on-the-nose for The Onion, but it works as a headline nonetheless.

Can they appeal? Even if it gets reduced to 1 season that's still amazing.

Does this open up 5th spot?

So Abu Dhabi will now try to sue UEFA right?

The final results of this are going to be very interesting.

Many more twists and turns in this story that’s for sure.

Fuck me, UEFA are actually taking action?

This will of course be appealed all the way to CAS so I wouldn't be surprised if they still compete in the CL next season, appeal pending, and if CAS uphold UEFA's sentence then the ban starts the season after.

CAS are utter bellends, they always back the money clubs.

Even if it’s a ban for this year, though that’s good news. I’d rather we got fourth though, as you just know if we got fifth, it would get overturned.

I hope they can’t appeal and the team who finishes fifth take their place and it would be so fun if Chelsea finishes 6

According to Rob Harris still 4 prem CL spots
Yeah when AC Milan were kicked out of Europa Torino took their place (and were promptly beaten by Wolves).

If the ban starts for next season, which is still a big if since the appeal will go to CAS, 5th gets a CL spot.

Can’t remember who it was, but some guy on Talkshite yesterday said that UEFA have the power to try and bring the CAS hearing forward just so there is some form of finality to it this season
