I think some of the issue was is that they’re playing Lukaku up top again and Rashford was wide of him.
They worked really well with a pacey front three of Lingard - Rashford - Martial.
Lingard was on bench but he may be coming back from injury as remember he wasn’t available for England in the recent internationals.
Lukaku is a good centre forward but just doesn’t seem to suit their game and slows down their face paced attacking game.
They need a decent pacy right-sided attacker as without Lingard they are a bit unbalanced and probably cover for left side too as Sanchez seems to have lost that hunger, so a pacey left sider would cover Martial and also Rashford if needed to push Martial centre to fill in (unless Sanchez can get that hunger and quality back).
In midfield engine room I said earlier in thread when Solskaer was first appointed that the midfield trio of Herrera - Matic - Pogba was ever present during his really good run of wins and would be interesting to see how they did without one of them.
Fred has played recently and still not been too hot and Herrera was unavailable against Everton - I think previously the similar sounding Herreira lol has done okay filling in but he was on bench. McTiminay (sp) has also done okay in past but maybe not as effective as Herrera?
Their defence even during good period I think everyone knows needs improving - they need an established right back, whether that be Dialot or someone else and at least one new centre back (although Bailey is class if can get him back for and confident).
Young has done well being converted to full back but he’s getting on a bit now and perhaps they need to freshen this area up.
