As it will not be a mass gathering there will be very little threat of Covid 19.
'Goodbye to our history for nothing': why West Ham fans are protesting

It is interesting that they complain about the transport links as those genuinely were thought to be one of the plus points of this site.

This stadium move has never been a stable situation, but that has nothing to do with them dicing with relegation. That is in the club's DNA.

They’re just a club that looks to tart the front of house up, big signings, big Stadium. But underneath it all their back office staff, facilities and general business plan are a pile of muck. And old training ground, no scouts, Sullivan Jr being groomed to take a directors place, scaffold stands. They’re a joke.

All ‘GSB’ need to do is say yes to a meeting, then turn up to said meeting wearing their infamous ‘treble’ t-shirt and talk about hating Tottenham and ‘denying Tottenham the stadium’

Everything rosey

How are the owners killing the club? They're a premier League club (at the moment), their average attendances last season was over 58 thousand and they've achieved record profits in the last few years. They've been a yo-yo club for years so current form is the norm. This is them unhappy about the stadium move, but it's far too late to do anything about that.

Ticket sales maybe.
Never looked that full from clips I have seen.

Getting something on their knees sound like something their owners could do...

funny how there were no complaints when they marched to the dizzying heights of 4th place for those 2 days back in September. I’m pretty sure they’ve spunked quite a bit of money in the last couple of years too so why the complaining now?

To be fair, the 58k is total lies. Their actual average attendance was low 40’s. Season tickets for a few hundred quid means people were happy to buy and just turn up now and then. I know a bloke who bought five for his family. I’d say on average 2/3 go every week.

Part of the problem is they have become wildly deluded in recent years. They often talk about the time when they ‘were above us’ and point to it as a reason why they should still be. Context is everything. They last finished above us when we were a mess towards the end of a season under Juande...even then we won a trophy that season ( think they finished one place above us, firmly back in higher mid table )

The fans don't like the loan interest the Davids are charging the club, that's where the wonga is going and the debt remains the same. Not a lot they can do about it though.

Indeed, although I think that factor has exacerbated an already smouldering dislike. The protests that occurred last season were before the club's current precarious financial situation came to light.

So I think it's two different, and only tangentially related, issues. The issues Spammers have with the stadium move stem from, I believe, GSB making certain promises about the stadium that they haven't delivered. They made those promises in the run up to a poll of West Ham fans as to whether they should move to Stratford. On the back of that, they got a 72% positive response rate.

I seem to remember a video presentation they created (and I think they subsequently tried to suppress) which claimed that they would install extendable stands to bring the fans closer to the pitch, among other alterations to make the stadium multi-functional and suitable for football. And I think I heard that the proposal to install these extendable stands was kyboshed by the stadium owners during the negotiations with GSB - so GSB knew they would never be able to deliver a football stadium for West Ham fans, but all the while they continued to use language that inflated Spammer expectations - all the talk was of 'world-class this' and 'world-class that'. But on those promises they simply haven't delivered.

Then when the latest financial statement was released and contained language, inserted by Gold himself, saying that relegation would cause serious, possibly even existential, problems for the club, this has just added fuel to the flames. As you said, TCO, the fact that the Dildo Brothers are charging interest on moneys they've lent the club, in contrast to someone like Abramovich who lent money to Chelsea interest-free, and the fact that Brady is drawing a million-pound salary have turned disgruntlement into outright hostility in some quarters.

But you're right, @nailsy - there's not much Spammers can do about it. WIth the Boleyn Ground gone, it's either the London Stadium or build a new stadium and there's no way in hell the Dildo Brothers would be able to, let alone be willing to.

From a West Ham supporter's view, the only possible way out of what is a horrendous situation (if viewed objectively but obviously a hilarious one from a Spurs and Leyton Orient stance) would be relegation, the club going into administration, and for new owners to come in. The only downside to this would be the Dildo Brothers would end up getting a fair wedge of cash back as they are the principle creditors.

Yep, the West Ham fans were definitely lied to by the owners. It was never going to be a world class stadium. Some of their decision making is bewildering as well. I'd be interested to know why their situation would be so perilous if they went down. Their rent is meant to go down, they'd get the parachute payments and presumably they could sell some players. I wonder if they forgot to include relegation clauses in relation to players wages if they go down?

They spend a fair bit on transfers and ( even more on ) wages yet rarely sell for big money.

The likes of Anderson, Haller, Yarmolenko all needed tempting with big, big wages as in theory they could have joined better teams, even the likes of Wilshire and Fornals will be on far more than they are actually worth, again in order to attract them.

Sure the tv deal is big, but they’re hardly a big player in the merchandise side of things, the stadium has ridiculously cheap tickets and there’s only so much the prize money from the infamous glory nights v Astra fucking googoo will stretch

I bet their wages to turnover spend is eye watering

In reality they never needed a bigger stadium. Not even close, as proved by the low average ( actual ) attendance. They could have refurbed The Boleyn, added better corporate options and 5,000 more seats

I have always said West Ham's biggest problem is thinking they are a big club before they are. If you don't know your position then you can't improve your circumstance.

According to the last financial reports they have the 8th highest turnover in the league and 11th highest wage bill. So in that manner they are OK.

However, like you say they spend a lot on transfers and appear to recoup very little. Buying Payet should have been the type of signing they
love. Bought for £10m, get a great season out of him then triple your money to reinvest. But because they think they are a big club the fans hated it. They have since bought experienced players, largely with injury problems. Basically they have become us in the 90s.

They are now looking at a relegation battle. If they go down they are in trouble.

Instead of targeting Carroll, Wilshere etc they should be buying younger, talented players with a good salary that doesn't cripple them and the option for first team football that better teams can't guarantee. But as they want to act like a big club they don't do that enough.
