I can't see another thread for him so here goes.
I really hope he's given a run at the start of the season. His energy, workload and enthusiasm could become infectious and others up theirs too.
He runs forever and only 18 months was seen as a somewhat savior. He's young enough to learn more and I hope Poch gets the best from him this year

He's got his pluses but he also loses possession a lot and gives away free kicks in dangerous positions. He may get a back up role for Eriksen but I don't see him as a 1st team regular this season.

It might be best for his career if he moves on though. Good luck to him if he does. A likable lad.

I haven't seen any of that from him in pre-season though. He was trying too hard before; this style of play seems to suit him much better and he flows with the game more and doesn't have to force things.

I can see him being an important player in the squad under poch, would be surprised if he's loaned/sold.

Yeah from what I've seen he seems to be less haste, more - I dunno. But better and not so clumsy.

when he joined us he was a bit of a headless chicken- trying too hard to make an impact/impression. His assists for Defoe in the league cup showed what he can do.

I really like him and as @fatpiranha says he will be a usful back up to Erikson.

Plus if we lose Sandro he will step up into the role of chief cheerleader/jokester

Personally I don't want to see him leave

He's more composed and efficient. Like what I've seen so far.

Even if he's backup to Eriksen to offer an alternative approach then this could be great. Having his energy levels come on at maybe 65-70miutes could up our tempo and get us more positive results

I agree with this. He's been one of our most impressive players in preseason.

I always thought he struggled previously due to lack of runners off the ball. So his vision and passing ability to pick out runners was affected. The teams overall movement and running off the ball seems to have improved since Poch has come in so I expect Holtby to play regularly this season.

For me Holtby is just not good enough. Good work rate but loses possession to often. I dont think he good enough to hold down a place in midfield.

But we've only played 3 relatively poor MLS sides. Not really comparable to what we will face in the PL.
I like his work rate, but he needs to have more control over his tackling etc.

I like him, but I'm not sure why. From what I've seen so far he's more of a squad player who will give his all.

Might be a good bet to start away matches.

I would expect him to be even more frenetic and over-trying in a pre-season, whoever we're playing, in an attempt to prove himself.

His whole demeanour thus far has been totally different from anything I've seen from him.

Him and poch are a great fit. Things should go well for him now imo.

I like Hotlby.

Dont think he has been given a run of games in his best position for fans to say "He isnt good enough"

Saw him in last years u21 euro tournament for Germany and he looked great and scored a wonderful goal aswell.

His winner last year against Fulham was top draw.

He also has the attitude and perosnlity that fans love.

Of course we will see but I really hope he does it for us. Spurs and football in general misses players like Holtby these days. Where has the fun gone?!

I've watched all 3 pre-season games so far and while he has shown some good stuff he has probably lost possession more than any other player. Compared to Mason who has really shone in pre-season I think Holtby is one of those who hasn't really done enough to make Poch think he is a player we have to keep. We have a lot of midfielders and selling Holtby would bring a nice profit and Levy does love those ;).

I think we have to be fair to the player as well. If he isn't going to get much game time we shouldn't ruin his chance of progressing his career or block our other promising prospects chances.

Sorry mate, saw pre-season, so far, as totally the opposite for him.

Fair enough. We'll agree to disagree (y).
it's been good to see your viewpoint. I don't agree with what you say about Holtby, but you have said these things in a dignified way that l hope others will bring to these boards. We all support the same team and having different opinions makes this place a great place to visit.
