He's a head coach. Yes two or three but to have complete wholesale changes for like 3rd summer in a row is just not for me. We're giving no chance for players to grow and adapt. It doesn't help that we have new coach but that's why we have DOF. The amount of players we've gone through in last two years is a bit of a joke imo.

But they've got to grow and adapt in Poch's way - his methods, philosophy etc If he doesn't think there right/suitable to play a certain way, I'm right behind him. If we want a playing identity this is absolutely necessary.

I did say to you that we had a huge squad last week. In order to bring a few in some room has to be made.

Not that I think we're selling all these players that have been linked with moves away.

There is talk of Andros Townsend being moved on because he can't follow instructions. Think Holtby has a similar problem. Saying that he is young, has loads of energy and I like him. I hope he stays.

Selling to fund signings. It's what we are and fair enough. Staying stable in terms of PL standings. It's hard to describe this as any sort of progression though. Really thought it would be a nice stable summer with two or three in and MP working on what we had and then do same next year. Way it's looking could be something like 8 or 9 out 6 or 7 in. Really can't stand this transfer carousel policy we have.

You can't blame the management for trying to move on Dawson, Siggy and potentially Holtby. It's a constant game of progression and trying to improve the squad.

Not only that, but we have too many players to fit into the Prem squad. So we HAVE to sell somebody. Who else do you suggest we let leave?

Wow, as an HSV fan myself I've spent some time telling their posters there was just no chance. If this is true, looks like the joke is on me.

Don't know how much more the kid has to do to prove himself.. Works his ass off, can score goals from long out, tracks back..

Holtby is not competeting dircetly with either of Lamela, Chadli, Kane, Lennon or Townsend for a place in the team. He is a CMF, and his most direct "competitiors" are Dembele, Paulinho, Bentaleb and Ryan Mason

Well, in that case, he is even more screwed for a starting slot, especially if MS comes in.

He works his ass off, tracks back but, goals? 1 in 25 for us, 1 in 13 for Fulham and 29 in 150 before that (including several season playing in the German lower leagues.

I like him as a guy but he is, for me, a jack of all trades. He is not in our best 4 wingers, number 10s or CMs.

We can't keep hold of players just because we like them. Our squad is too big and, if we want to sign anyone, we need players to leave to free up space and wages.

Holtby is a tough one for me. Love him as a person and love his work rate and fight. That aside, I'm not too convinced. He's not disciplined enough in the 2 and not creative enough in the 3 and.I'd prefer Kane given more chances. Lewis is decent but I wouldn't be completely against selling him. Pure CM imo

Upon looking into it, it seems as if there have been rumors a few days now that a Turkish team is interested in Rafa. With him off the books, that would free up some significant cash to bring in Holtby. I don't think Holtby prioritizes salary over playing time, so I think he may agree to a reduced salary with them if he's promised such significant playing time.

Yes, for the opposition's defence.

Poch: "It doesn't matter where you start, as long as you defend. Just keep swapping position with any player you like. Remember: you all have free roles to play." Is that how you think Poch's game plan is?
Sound worse than Harry's tactical talks...

Quote from Chadli after the QPR game

“We have Ade at the top and then, behind him, we had me, Christian [Eriksen] and Erik, who are all encouraged to change position during the game,” said Chadli. “That makes it very difficult for the opponents to choose which one of us to pick up. It’s a new way of playing and we are trying to play like that. It’s like we have three No10s, which means we can also get the full-backs forward in wide positions, which makes five players supporting Ade in attack. It is very different and I have never played this way before. But we have to learn it and it can help us improve.

Holtby has the same appeal as Dawson for me. Hugely likeable characters who work so damned hard. I don;t really see the point in selling him on at this stage, until he has been tried and tested in a set position within the new regime. That said, his chances will probably be limited so he may well want pastures green and I would't fault him for that. But that can be said of a few players to be fair. There's a couple of other players i'd sooner see move on from the midfield over him anyway.

I think Poch, like past managers, is struggling to find a position for him. I like his determination and his energy, he puts a lot in, but I'm finding it difficult to think what position he's best suited to.

Can't find any fault with that mate. One can only hope that Poch' uses his coaching skill to define him better as a player.
