TEAM FORM: --- Leyton == WWWWL ----- Spurs WLLWW ------- (All competitions)

e will attempt to book our spot in the fourth round of the EFL Cup when we head to League Two side Leyton Orient (LO) on Tuesday night.

We will enter the match off the back of a morale-boosting 5-2 win over Southampton in the Premier League, while Orient shared the points with Mansfield Town in their last league encounter. Orient's 2019-20 campaign might have ended in March, but Ross Embleton's side have been busy at the start of this season, already taking to the field on five occasions for competitive fixtures.

The O's have beaten Forest Green Rovers and Plymouth Argyle in the first two rounds of the EFL Cup to advance to this stage, while they also overcame Brighton & Hove Albion's Under-21 side 3-2 in the EFL Trophy earlier this month. Orient started their League Two season with a 1-0 win at Oldham Athletic on September 12, meanwhile, before, as mentioned, sharing the points with Mansfield on Saturday afternoon.

Tuesday will actually bring the first meeting between us since January 2001, when we ran out 1-0 winners in the third round of the FA Cup. We would not have been feeling fantastic about ourselves after losing 1-0 to Everton on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, while we only just overcame Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League on Thursday night courtesy of two goals in the latter stages.

Deals for Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon were secured ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Southampton, though, and we emphatically overcame the Saints, with Son scoring four times in a 5-2 win at St Mary's.

Our fixture list is incredible as we face a trip to North Macedonia to take on Shkendija in the third qualifying round of the Europa League on Thursday night, before hosting Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The games are coming thick and fast for us, and Orient will certainly be looking to take advantage of the fact that we have bigger fish to fry than the League Cup. Orient boss Embleton is expected to shuffle his pack from the side that faced Mansfield in the league on Saturday as the hosts have an important game away to Walsall on September 26.

We will be without the services of Tanganga due to a thigh problem, while our new signing Bale is out until October with a knee injury.

Mourinho is expected to make wholesale changes from the side that faced Southampton, and there could be a debut for former England number one Joe Hart between the sticks. Aurier, Toby, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Foyth, sessegnon and Gedson could all feature in the eleven to face Orient.

Cirkin will also be hoping for an opportunity at left-back, while Dele could play despite the recent speculation surrounding his future. New signing Reguilon could also be involved in the squad despite concerns over his fitness.

Might have to be a bye in to the next round...

problem solved although was probably too much to ask for this to have happened to the Macedonians on Thursday instead :cautious:

feel like the FA are about to make a rod for their own back here on whatever decision they make as it will set the precedent going forward.

might be swapped to our ground

what difference will that make? Those players will have been in the changing rooms etc. With all the other members of the squad so surely they all have to now go in to isolation? Shows that this season will be a bit of a mockery really.

It's the players that are carrying it and have been around each other. We cannot go near that team with a bargepole, it's simply not worth the risk that they've had one or more false negatives.

It's a shitty way to progress but what other choice is there? I don't see how postponement is an option either, the 4th round is literally next week and it's not like we have a spare couple of days to squeeze an extra match into.

Can't see the fixture being moved to our ground, that won't help.

Can't see it being postponed either - the 4th round is next week.

If the FA insisted this game goes ahead, what should our stance be? I wouldn't be happy with us fielding ANY first team players if there's even the slightest risk that one of their players might have Covid.

1. Hope no one gets seriously sick. All should get well soon.

2. Its good for our Macedonia preparations

3. Its a shame for loads of our Depth players who can hardly get a game (Sess, Gedson, Clarke, Cirkin, White, Serge...)

I honestly don't see how they can insist it goes ahead. Orient have shut down their stadium and training facilities, surely the only outcome is for them to forfeit.
