You just need someone to come in, free the shackles, put an arm around them, make them express themselves and we'll have a completely different mind set and approach. Whether it brings positive results, who know, but at least we can start to play expansive football that is far more suited to this group of players.
This being the chairman malarkey is easy huh?
Surely you can appreciate that there are a bucketful of factors that need to be considered?

I mean would you be happy with this expansive football even if means our best players leaving?
Or who is this magical manager who is going to provide that as well as convincing our best players we can win trophies?

You realise that's very likely to be the trade off dont you?

Well I'm not guessing if that's what you are asking.

This is why he was trying to be positive in his post match interviews, he can't afford to escalate things any further.

He wasn't playing dumb he was being political in a football sense.

Can anyone remember the year Poch got sacked, I posted in September he wouldn't make to Christmas. Due to the behind the scenes stuff that was going on his position would become untenable???

Got a few neg reps and disagrees for that post iirc.

Well how far away is valentine's Day?

Interesting to hear that things are turning. I think he has the next 3 games to save his job. No wins there, or even a dire scraped win vs WBA and I think Levy reluctantly pulls the plug. Dropping out of the FA Cup especially (very possible away at Everton) would take another argument away from him being sacked. Currently his rhetoric would be (still in 4 comps and 6th in the league).

Personally I think our complete cluelessness in actually trying to play coherent football for the last two months speaks for itself and I'm struggling to get past it now. Of our wins this season Burnley, Brighton and WBA were hardly inspiring in themselves. We have some issues in our squad but it is plenty good enough to not get dominated by Fulham and Brighton.

I have watched some of their games this season and some of their play has been good on the eye, so yes, it's been enjoyable.

But,

Why shouldn't we be wanting shiny bits of tin? You want to watch your team win, winning can equate to shiny bits of tin, ergo why thumb your nose at it?

People in here have complained about the investment and lack of investment within the club over the years, why are they bothering to do either if the aim isn't to eventually win something?
I think the thing most people are getting at is that we have seemingly sacrificed playing attractive football to bring in Mourinho to "win the league cup". People earlier in the post were saying they would be happy to play defensive football if we won trophies at the expense or in favour of finishing in the top four.

Personally I'd rather watch a season of good attacking football that is exciting to watch and make sure we are in the champions league playing against the likes of Barca and Real rather 4 or 5 matches against no name teams or pl b teams and then competing for a b status trophy. Being in the champions league will get us closer to attracting better players and improving than winning the league cup.

I voted for option 2 when he came to the club but I've now changed to "Horrified - praying for the day he'll fuck off" I slept on it but the morning doesn't make things look any better, if anything they look worse. I watch football to be entertained, I can take Spurs losing, I've been a fan for over 40 years ffs and so I've seen plenty of losing but this style of football where we make bottom of the table sides look like Barcelona is just too much to take. Fuck Jose and fuck Levy if he doesn't grow and set and do the the right thing. He's lucky there are no fans as the stadium would be toxic right now. I've gone from looking forward to games to dreading them. Its clear as day that Kane and Son were carrying this team, take one of both out and we are bottom half of the table in our play. Will Levy pull the pin? Will he fuck. We're stuck with this dross until at least the cup final ?

Until Valentine's we have Chelsea, WBA, Everton in the Cup and Manchester City. If we don't pick up at least 4 points in the league and beat Everton, the season's almost over.

This is how I feel about the situation too. I'm not going to rage out over it because honestly I don't think the main issue is the manager. Didn't think it was the case with Pochettino and I don't believe it now either. The issue is the quality of the squad. We are basically walking down the same path Arsenal did after the Emirates was built. One by one our stars will move on and the likes of Aurier, Winks, Dier, Sanchez, Lamela and Sissoko will still be regular starters, even though they have proved, over and over again, that they are not good enough for what we claim to be our goal.

I think you’re right. You’d hope we would of learnt from them but we haven’t. From their perspective they had Wenger to save them. We don’t have him.

So we don't want to win the FA Cup or the League cup because attractive football, Champions League and the fact we might attract a better sort of footballer?

Half of this has been disproven over the years, this is dated and also, considering we haven't won a thing in a decade almost painful.

Sorry, I can't.

That Liverpool game reminded me of the Bayern game. I didn’t even turn it on yesterday as soon as I saw the team sheet. I thought it looked like a section to get the sack.

Not sure how it’s all gone so wrong since Christmas but if it’s done, we shouldn’t be waiting to be spanned by Chelsea to do it the season can still be saved. Even if it’s a temp appointment until the summer.

I think under normal circumstances DL would be preparing to make the change. The one thing that I think will be playing into his decision is that there are two routes into the CL. There is top four and then there is winning the EL. Our chances of top four are fading but DL may feel that JM still gives us the edge in the EL. As soon as DL feels that JM is a detriment rather than a boost to our chances in the EL then he may just ditch him.

On the flip side there is the asset value of the squad which will be plummeting the longer they appear to be a bunch of donkeys. I do not personally believe that they are a bunch of donkeys, merely that they are being ordered to play in such a way as to make them look like a bunch of donkeys.

If we cant beat Fulham, Newcastle, Brighton, Crysal Palace theres no chance we're getting past a number of top teams in the EL cup - United, Milan, Leicester, Napoli and Leverkusen to name a few. No way we're able to get past that calibre of team in successive rounds on current form. Might as well get rid now rather than wait for the inevitable crash out.

I don’t know whether Joe Lewis actually watches our matches or not, but if he does I can’t see him enjoying this shit. He’ll be throwing himself over the side of his yacht faster than Robert Maxwell.
