I wonder whether it’s dawned on him yet that the great squad that he’s admired from the outside for the last few years is now not as good as it appeared?

A lot of those players ( including some that he tried to sign) have gone backwards.
Come on, he's just been appointed. He's obviously got to get the current squad onside and feeling positive. And to be fair this is a very good squad, it just needs playing optimally. Although yes, we need to recruit big style.

We were always going to lose eventually, most likely away from home and in this fixture. It’s how we react now on Saturday.

He’s got to get into them somehow. He mentioned about trying to knock the arrogance out of the squad. Maybe it’s the players that actually need to be humble?

There'll be plenty of matches like that one though, so we'll have to suck it up a bit this season.
Yeah I think top 4 is a long shot now, we waited too long to make the change, but I can see why Levy waited.
A decent cup run and and some steady improvement in league performances is what I hope for/expect this season.

The signs were there. For all the attacking freedom of the previous 3 games (aka the Dele Alli show) we've still shipped 2 goals in each of the last 4 games. And for the majority those goals are coming via mistakes in midfield.

Very good point about the complacency too. Its long been a negative feature of this, and past squads. Its almost like a bit of Tottenham DNA.

He's picking the same group of players that have been here for years. We're stale and need freshness and new ideas. That team last night offered none of this
I know but let's face it, he's been there five minutes. Let's see how things pan out over the next few months, not the next few games.

Our whole squad seemed to have lost pace and stamina. Is it overtraining, is it that they're jaded? Something is seriously wrong. There's no spark or joy in this team anymore.

really? The problem last night was intent.

Dele is providing both, and the new boys, when they eventually get a fkin game, will too.

The only painful things for the Head Coach about this rebuild are having to upset a player or two in actually picking the summer signings to start games, and then doing the same with RB, DM, LB and, yes, the GK over the next two windows.

Levy will hurt too, but I think is already realising that not paying out on the field compromises all his other revenue streams.

8 new players are what's needed.

GK
2 RB
2 LB
2 CB
1 CM

Hugo wasn't good enough before the injury, Gazza is an ok No.2.
SA & KWP both not good enough
BD & DR Def not good enough
TA & JV too slow
MS ED VW HW CE would happily upgeade or change all of these.

So maybe up to 10 players.

Damn big job ahead. good luck Jose/Hose

need a director of football as well to through into the mix

Squads in a rut, and went too long without continual development. I think this would be happening regardless of who we had or how long for.

To borrow Poch's software upgrade analogy from pre-season... we have something in development called continuous deployment. We release software upgrades and patches as they're done, so that the product/platform is always improving.

The old way was to do timed releases, like every month or so... which meant that you found a bug, or were lacking a requirement, you would go a long period before it was fixed/provided. So you lose productivity in that time.

We did the latter, only for a year. We never upgraded. And when we did, it was too late. We're playing catch up.

Poch definitely let his project management stagnate, or he was compromised by senior management. Either way, we needed a new PM in. We've moved on the fancy young grad and got in a proven name from Goldman Sachs. Lets see if he can improve that release schedule.

(I may have gotten carried away with that analogy... :sorry:)

There’s a fine line between arrogance and confidence. I’ve no real complains about being an arrogant team/player but you can only be that if you back it up with results.

Sounds like our egos are writing cheques our bodies can’t cash!

So he's a fraud. Mourinho?! Christ
He's blatantly just upset that Levy sacked his beloved, there's a few on here that have been itching to lash out since Jose came in, we'll see this every time a result doesn't go our way.

He hasn't taken over a squad midseason since Porto either.
That's a good point. I just think that it's crazy for people to start calling him out already. Not talking about complaining about individual games, that's fair enough but one senses that there are those who are just waiting to say "I told you so" which is totally premature but also serves no purpose because DL is going to give him a long time to get things right so people are just going to have to get on with it.

100% with you. He's here now anyway. I doubt many people thought that we would just get him in and the squad were going to perform drastically different. Player transfers were always needed.

Noticed an increase in long balls in his first game in charge. It was a decent balance of long balls and passing which is fine as I believe it's good to be pragmatic and to mix things up a bit to keep the opposition on their toes.

However the long balls have steadily been increasing to the point that last night I felt I was watching Wimbledon Hotspur. Aimless long ball after aimless long ball.

Exactly the kind of thing I was fearing when he took charge.

That's without getting in to the shocking line up (Sissoko and Winks CM, plus Lucas ahead of Lo Celso and then using Eriksen ahead of Lo Celso) and poor general tactics.

The players can do one as they have also shown their true colours. I always said the players were to blame, not Poch. They sold him down the river and a lot of them don't care about the club anymore. You could see that clear as day last night as they turned in a performance just as bad as anything we've seen from Poch's team in 2019. No desire, no fight, no energy, no movement and no quality.

Crap setup last night. Double pivot of Winks and Sissoko is asking for trouble. In fact, any double pivot setup with any of the players we have is asking for it unless we totally dominate the opposition. By the time Eriksen came on to shore up the midfield it was too late (and fuck knows why it was Eriksen anyway). Far too much long ball hoofing as well. Back down to earth with a bump the first time we play a team that are up for it and aren't total shite.
