It’s classic Spurs, isn’t it? Appoint one of the greatest, most successful managers of all time when he’s way, way past his best.

Agree with the sentiment, not the message. We’re willing to give people second chances as a club. Aurier, etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Time will tell. Fingers crossed and backing him at the start.

I voted Vertonghen. Vertonghen has been our best defender for a really long time. His only blip in motivation and effort throughout that time has been when his aspirations on behalf of him and his teammates have not been met by the coach. He was unsettled before when he didn't have faith in the management (Sherwood, toward the end Villas Boas), and we know he is the most motivated and reliable when he feels respect for and belief in the manager and feels that there is real ambition around him.
Vertonghen didn't lack fitness this season. He just pissed off Pochettino, that's all. With a new manager in place, hopefully Vertonghen can feel that he has belief in the new boss. If that happens, we'll see again one of the league's best CBs. So for me, a potential is a recommitted Vertonghen who goes on to play at his best and sign a new contract for Tottenham.

Can’t say mourinho was my #1 at the start, but with everyone he’s bringing in, by god this is exciting

Won't know the true state of the squad until these players play a few games, you'll see who will start to play up or not respond to the new manager.

£19M net spend per year is not financially backed. Only 5 clubs in the premier league have spent less

Net spend is bollocks to be honest. It doesn’t really take into account a clubs position (say only bringing and selling one or two players to keep
Things fresh) or large sales. Take the bale Transfer for example, we reinvested that money in 6 players. We didn’t really need to spend that much more money. So we still had a net spend of 0 despite huge changes.

I think in Poch tenure we have spent the 7th most. Probably still points to punching above our weight and a lack of investment compared to other clubs (though Everton and West Ham are above us through going mental in the last two windows) but we also had other stuff going on like the stadium etc

Call me old fashioned but if players sign for Jose that didnt for Poch that will make my blood boil, they play for the club not the manager
I don't necessarily disagree but you can 100% guarantee that there are players this applies to. Probably also vice-versa with Poch but much less so.

I loved Poch, but with JM and now possibly Campos coming in...

It's like, I love my wife dearly, but if she hasn't performed for a year, and a top talent shows an interest in me AND in bringing in her equally talented friend into the relationship, she's out of here.

I think there is a chance all of them will. Less so with Rose as afaik that was more a club decision not to give him a new deal.

This is what happens when you hire a big name.
This intent by Levy is huge. Overwhelmingly huge. Really applaud our chairman for this. An appointment that covers both the business and football aspect. Can you imagine how many fans of other football clubs wish to be like us at this moment?! Yet some of us here are still complaining!

Very interested to see what happens to our playing personnel. It appears Alderweireld, Eriksen, Rose and possibly Vertonghen were willing to move on but no clubs better than us wanted them.

If they accept we are the nest club they can play for and hiring Jose is a new start then we might get a couple of them back to their best.

I think Dier might be rejuvenated under Jose.
