In hindsight that's fine. But people are assuming the result would have been different with them starting?

I think we would have had a much better chance to win the game if they had started, Winks & Sissoko together just doesn't work, it never has and never will.

Still think 433 is the way to go. What’s really scary is that I think we need 6 new players in the first team.

GK, LB, RB, CB, CM, RW.

He's got to give the players a chance to show their worth and tonight quite a few showed that they offer very little. Sissoko, Winks and Sanchez were very average and caused more problems between them than the rest.
I'd add Lucas in to the mix as well.

Mourinho isnt the problem here. The sheer task at hand is just becoming apparent. Theres a genuine job on here and it wont be fixed just by changing manager. Some of these players just aren't up to it. Skipp/Tanganga/Parrott need to come in and things need freshening up. It wont happen overnight.

I agree with everybody echoing this but I'd add that Alderweireld and Sanchez also don't work. When CBs + CMs don't work, that's a big issue as a total.

I rate Sanchez so I would like to see him develop & have a future here, but the best partnership was Toby & Jan together.

I don't really have any problem with him selection today, other than Lucas. None of the central midfielders have put their hand up and made themselves automatic starters.

We've been bad defensively in every game so far and but there's been no change to our defending or intensity. Lucas and Son either can't or won't defend, and Kane and Alli's defensive work has been lacklustre for the most part. We've been pretty much defending with six players. Son and Lucas can't play in the same team unless we change shape or are playing in games we're going to dominate possession. Starting both away from home on a big pitch in a four man midfield was never going to turn out good for us.

The other issue today was our attacking shape. We've been looking good with the 3241 shape, but for some reason we changed it today. Every time we play against a back four we should be using it. We went to it for the last 10 minutes or so and had our best spell in the game and forced them to go to a back five to defend it.

He’s got a massive job on his hands. He will be fully aware of it.

Lot of that team out there tonight don’t have long futures at the club.

Very disappointing team selection though and didn’t do anything to affect the game once it was obvious Ole, yes the worst manager in the division by a mile, had outthought him.

Got to say, I’m not sure I want the humble one. Much prefer the bratty one if it means we turn up and put up a fucking fight on the pitch. That was so limp

Good interview from Jose.

Basically saying we were lacklustre and have been since the west ham game.

Also seemed quite annoyed with sissoko!

Our problems primarily stem from the fact that the DM options are a disgrace, and until the window opens there’s nothing Jose can do about it.

There’s no cover for the defense whatsoever, which would make any back line look shaky. It’s astonishing that it has come time this given that Dier hasn’t performed to a high standard in midfield since the 16/17 season and Wanyama has very clearly been finished since the knee injury, yet here we are.

We’ve got good enough options elsewhere in midfield with Ndombele and Lo Celso as No. 8s and Winks and Sissoko as squad options, it’s the lack of a DM that’s killing us. Hang within touching distance of fourth place this month, make that the top priority in January, and we’ll stand a fighting chance of salvaging the season IMO.

I ain’t turning on him, just saying it like it is, that was as bad as anything we’ve seen over the last year and the starting 11 was terrible.
Right. We've all been here the whole time watching this same old shite. It's beyond old at this point. Jose has the excuse that he hasn't but if he persists with similar line ups and combos game after game then peeps will start running on him for sure.

He's likely to have hoped that they'd give him more than a 3 game bounce but they didn't and sticking with a settled 11-14 players in order to get some early results seems out of the window now.

Hopefully we'll see him start to tweak things properly from now on.

The mistake he made was Sissoko ahead of Ndombele. I’m not sure what else you can lambast him for with the lineup. You can say drop Winks all you like, but Lo Celso in a CM2 would have been a big risk, the same goes for Skipp because of his lack of experience. Dier and Wanyama not good enough.

This is not on Jose.
The players have reached their prime and achieved what they could. Time for some fresh blood.

Yet Dier would have offered far more protection than Sissoko and Winks tonight.
