What press conference did u watch?
I dont remember him saying that.

in this one:

He clearly states how he wanted Dele to play from the beginning but knew he couldn't get 90 minutes out of him, the same with Ndombele.
He doesn't say anything about not having anyone on the bench...just that we have loads of injuries, which is true.
Maybe you saw a different press conference?

When did he actually do that?

He’s never done it. Some want it to be true though, so interpret what they hear in the way they want to hear it, or just plain make shit up.

Aspiring tabloid journalists.

he’ll be hoping werner’s finishing is as good when we play them. He just missed a sitter

I've watched a couple of Leipzig games this year and I have to say that Werner isn't the deadliest of finishers but he gets so many chances a game due to the blistering pace they have up front so he will still bag like 1-2 goals a game hahah

I didn’t think the quality of the game was the best.

Bayern were very poor at home, especially 2nd half. Leipzig should have scored 2 or 3.
Mourinho would have learnt a lot, incase if he didnt know about this Leipzig side.

From our CL game point of view, we really need defense to be pacy - IMO, Toby, Sanchez, Tanganga are automatic starters.

If Liverpool hadn’t bought VVD and Allison as they were building a new stadium and fell short in 2nd / 3rd they’d be in the same boat as us. We have to factor in that the new stadium came at the worst time in terms of us taking that next step.

Just my opinion, but I think playing all Bundesliga teams is basically the same proposition and you go about it the same way. Whenever I see games from Germany now all the teams seem to play similarly, absolutely balls out, playing high up the pitch trying to get on the front foot and employ modern, attacking tactics.

If you can do your thing defensively then at the other end you will get chances, lots. We've seen that against Dortmund in recent years, and even both games against Bayern we were given loads of space to play and get at their defence. In the home game we should have had three or four goals before HT.

It does feel like the way we've been setting up recently is pretty ideal for German opposition to hit them on the break. We have to be clinical though (when does a team not). I can't see us being opened up the way we were against Bayern.

I agree. Both teams were playing it short from the goal kicks every time. So you can guarantee we won’t do that.

I was convinced before watching Leipzig today that Kane was going to be a big miss, now I’m even more convinced. He’s so clinical. I think we will miss that big time when we press them into mistakes.

Seriously, what was he going to say?

If you look at the history since Levy took a controlling interest in ENIC, and ENIC in turn took a controlling interest in Spurs (circa 2003/4), We massively improved on the pitch. In the preceding 12 years we'd only finished top half three times out of twelve and that was 7th, 8th and 9th. Since then we've been a mainstay top 6 side, and a top 4 one for last 5 years or so. We, as a club, have spent an enormous amount of money on buying land and properties to facilitate the new stadium (~£400M). That was also a period when Chelsea and Man City were massively financially 'doped' by their owners guaranteeing on pitch success. We now have the best football stadium in the league, possibly the world, and also a stadium that is geared up to generate revenue better than any other. In the two transfer windows since the stadium opened we've spent ~£170M on new, quality, young players (Bergwijn, Ndomebele, Lo Celso, Gedson, Sessegnon, Clarke), with the Net spend at ~£115M. Hopefully investing £100M+ in the squad every calendar year will now be the norm, all made possible by the new stadium. Which took more than a decade to fund and build. Our squad, which had become stale is being refreshed, and this is shown by the age of the bulk of our squad:

Heung-min Son: 27
Lucas Moura: 27
Serge Aurier: 27
Harry Kane: 26
Ben Davies: 26
Tanguy Ndombele: 23
Giovani Lo Celso: 23
Dele Alli: 23
Harry Winks: 23
Davinson Sanchez: 23
Steven Bergwijn: 22
Juan Foyth: 22
Gedson Fernandes: 21
Japhet Tanganga: 20
Ryan Sessegnon: 19
Jack Clarke: 19
Troy Parrott: 18

I do not think we can judge Mourinho until he's had another transfer window and a full pre-season to make this his side. I think it is important to not judge Levy until the same point. After we've had a full season of increased revenue and a new manager to back. I expect Mourinho, to be able to challenge for the title next season, to want to sign a physical beast of a CF, a DCM and a commanding CB. And those players need to be ready made, ready to slot in and improve the first team. They will cost money. If Levy is serious about challenging for the title he needs to spend another £170M this summer.
