As I said the other day... Chelsea started without their two top scoring strikers, two best wingers and no Kante. They kicked our fucking ass. We don't have Kane, Son and we can't complete passes, build any attacks, etc. We can't play good football cause we're missing Moussa Sissoko?! Lamela is perpetually injured the idea of ever relying on him is asinine. I don't buy that we can't look halfway decent given the players still available.
Yes you are right - but Chelsea still had round pegs for round holes

a true striker does a shit load more than put the ball in the net

they work the channels, they put pressure on players in certain areas, the bully defenders, they allow others to run past, drawing defenders out of position but to name a few things

now - how we find ourselves in this position is an entirely different conversation but to suggest Chelsea were or are in the same boat as us ia far from the truth

Have you read the recent replies in this thread yet? I hope they could make you feel better about Jose
tbh i haven't because I'm so fucked off with the situation that I cannot bring myself to read anything positive on him. So many wanted MP swapped for him as this twat is supposed to be a winner whilst ignoring the fact his teams play turgid vomit inducing football. They got their way now all of a sudden act surprised by how we're playing

Nothing would make me feel better about Jose except his resignation.

Yeah let's not even give the guy a fair chance at all and just sack him and be done with it. That's the sort of club I want us to become, no success within a couple of months and you are out the door. That's how we get success here.

Exactly. It’s what made us a laughing stock before we appointed Poch. We changed manager virtually every other season. Whoever the next one is, I bet we have the same people moaning because it’s not the person they want. whoever the fuck that poor sap is!

But he told everyone he was going to change. He wont change, he will do what he thinks best to get the result, which at the end of the day is all that matters. I knew what to expect but I also wanted a winner in charge to see if he can get us over the line and win a trophy, which seems far away at the moment but you never know, were still in 2 cups comps.

Firstly I dont think anyone is enjoying the football played but the football played was that much better in 2019. Atleast we are picking up points. If we are playing like this in 12 months time and in a similar position then the discussion about a new manager is legitimate

Facts are since Son came to Spurs , there has been only 3 games where we didn’t have both Son or Kane...drew 1 (Everton)lost 2 (Anderlect Ajax SF 1st leg) . Even in those 3 we had likes of Llorente & Njie.
Our current situation is so fucked up.
Given this, Talking about manager faults & talking about style of play is just plain wrong.

My only comment is this season is going to be painful with little expectations on my part .
Next year I believe Jose will be showing his real ability .
Thats what I am praying for . But I am not even going to attempt to tell the winning most manager about today what is the right way or the wrong way to set up team or how to play . he will come good in my opinion .

Harry got injured start of jan, we had a whole month to try and bring someone in. Our last 6 signings have all been midfielders, its negligence. Jose himself banging on about the need to bring in a forward. I know its not easy to find a striker but the transfer committee has blown it again.

I'm inclined to agree with you - only issue, is the effing Euros *could* affect player recruitment, again.

It is not impossible for a manager to play false 9 and still get results. But for Jose, even that’s dented because of fitness issues of Lamela & Ndombele.

If we can get them playing even 70 min a game, we can have enough creativity to dismantle most sides

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Can you identify the posters that wanted MP gone but are surprised by the style? I'm fascinated.

Like I've said a few times though, watch the game against Chelsea at home even before Son got sent off, watch Southampton away in the league and it's the same type of performance as the one against Chelsea on the weekend. The main problem we have is not the lack of a striker.

On that note, I was looking at the stats between Liverpool and City from November.

City had more shots and possession than the home team but lost 3-1. This adds support to the argument that with the right players a counter attack approach and giving up possession can be very effective.
