I said earlier this week about our fans that you learn a lot about people when the chips are down and it applies with players also. You look at Lo Celso who is doing everything he absolutely can to push the team on. You look at the likes of Winks who gives everything he has, Dier has been giving everything he has, Lamela even with all his injuries when he is on the pitch is giving everything. I know people aren't happy with his performances but nobody can tell me that Dele isn't physically and mentally exhausted because he's doing everything he absolutely can for this team at the detriment of his performances unfortunately. Moura/Bergwijn the same you're seeing real character, Jan who a few weeks ago looked finished, look how determined he has played this past week for the team despite looking like his best days are behind him and Aurier who is much criticised and might not be everybody's cup of tea but he is trying to do what he can for the team.

Yet people are staunchly defending Ndombele because of how good he has shown us to be despite the fact when the chips are down he's not stepping up and being the breathe of fresh air, being the player who lifts the tired legs and minds around him when he absolutely has that ability. It's the other players threads that people are more angry in, not to say there hasn't been people mad towards Ndombele. Those players I mentioned are giving absolutely everything and they're all we have, my opinion is that if you want to have a discussion about whether they're good enough for us, save it for the summer when the transfer window is open because right now they're all we have and they're giving everything to the cause whether it be to our standards or not and if you want to complain about people then complain about those who aren't stepping up and taking responsibility.

Yes there's a caveat to say, it's the first season in a new country, new league but usually that applies to your ability and getting up to speed on that front, yes you might struggle fitness wise but typically you struggle because you're giving everything you can and it's not quite enough not struggling because your attitude isn't up to it.
Great post mate

I cant believe people are really questioning the ndombele public criticism. He has been ridiculously unprofessional. He hasn't been match fit for weeks. Jose has fielded questions in pressers about it and said a few weeks ago that hes been put on a specific regime. Hes tried everything. Compare the effort of lo celso to ndombele. They are pillars apart. One was being linked with real madrid and zidane even said earlier in the season he regrets not signing him. Managers have blasted players in the past. Klopp bashed lovren and said he could have done better in trainers. Redknapp slated Bent publically and people love harry. Even the supposed messiah Poch came in and binned off half the squad as they were rotten to the core and that included players such as lennon who was idolised and then slated some of them in a book.

Hes tried handling it behind the scenes and motivating players and ndombele clearly couldnt care less. This could well ne the last role of the dice. I would add Mourinho does also state hopefully next season he can show hes excellent quality. So also shows hes not given up on the player. The squad look shot. We prob need 5 players for the first XI hopefully this shambles of a season will make levy realise we need a DoF and to hand over the transfer side of the business to someone else to work with Jose and allow him to concentrate on pimping out the station to every musician going.

Having seen the interview, it’s not as bad as I first thought having seen the initial reaction. Certainly not giving up on him, and wasn’t a massive dressing down.

Horseshit - everything he said in that interview was absolutely bang on
He didn’t take any blame himself for the shit show in the first half. Was a mess of a selection and I think he was more culpable than Ndombele. I am not a Mourinho hater but he should shoulder some blame before he dishes it out

Okay not sure what that is meant to signify...?
Point one - that even if speculating now is useless, we will be able to check back in 2 weeks to see if Mous approach paid off.

Point two - that so far Mourinho has failed to get the best out of him. Indeed he did better when he had less premier league experience and less time with his new teammates. Perhaps Mourinho should bare some responsibility for the performance of his players...

Mourinho.
No, I haven't, but with both I sincerely hope there's far more to come next season. As Jose said in his interview (and it's not like I wasn't already aware) there's a whole list of great players who had a miserable first season in the Prem, I sincerely hope N'Dombele become one of those who kicked on and Jose comes out and praises him for what I hope will be an improvement.

I didn't want Maureen as a manager but now he's here I'm firmly in the camp of now he's here give him a close season, next season's team will be his, whether it's based on players signed or the culture and mentality he instils around the place.

Mourinho calling out his players, shouldn't be a surprise. When he leaves the club, he'd have pissed off half the squad, that's what happens.

The biggest problem right now is, what he said was the truth.
Not on that performance against Burnley. He wasn't lazy .
Mourinho said he can't keep picking him what did he mean does that mean his being forced to pick him?
I'm really disappointed with that interview it was unacceptable, he first said he didn't want to dig anyone out then proceeded to go Full Monty.

Lo Celso is doing alright under Jose as is Tanganga and Aurier, dare I say he's managed to get more mileage out of the majority of our players than our previous manager so not sure what your point is?

Let's not turn this into an unnecessary point acting slanging match and compare managers, it doesn't prove anything.

At the end of the day Jose is prob correct to call out ndombele he is looking for a reaction in a good day ! William was talking about it the other day ! But and it’s a big but what did Jose actually think was going to happen with a cm of Skipp and ndombele today terrible team selection in the first place

I think what Mourinho is trying to do is actually conserve energy in games. Due to so many games and injuries, not including passengers within the squad. He cant legislate for keepers pushing balls straight out to attackers or players in the final 3rd showing a complete lack on intelligence. Last few weeks i can recall loads of examples where a simple pass and it was a goal. If by Xmas things havent changed then fair enough but the one positive that keeps me going is when we had a forward we were scoring goals. It was keeping clean sheets that was the problem. Jose teams always been brilliantly defensively so the hope is after the summer he would have resolved that issue and we will see a totally different side
