With Jose being the sly fucker he is, I can imagine that’s part of the joke.
Also he said I could be aggressive but I won’t because he’s not ready for my response. As in he’s Mentally a very fragile man so there is no point Jose going in on him as it would really effect someone like merson.

to be fair Merson made a few ok points, I think he was right that Kane and other players won’t enjoy playing like we did vs man.u BUT if it gets results in important games and then we play more progressively in other games then the players will start to buy into it and trust a managers who’s won it all and who isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Merson is a fucking idiot. I can’t believe I had to waste 2.5 seconds of my life to type that, but there it is.

Jose had a very good point though, almost all of the strikers who have played under him won the golden boot/top scorer award domestically and some in the CL/EL, so Merson’s point was complete bs from the offset.

The fact that he has to constantly fight against negativity from the press is probably why he is a bit of a prick. Imagine having so much hatred and shade thrown your way, just because you’ve been successful. The JM narrative has always been shit, I got bored of it before he joined United, I can only imagine how the man feels about it.

The whole point of Mourinho going at Merson is that hes trying to send a message to Kane. Backing him up as well as saying I'm going to fight for you and if you stick with me we will win because look at what I have done with all these other top players that you are also a part of.

I'm already 100% sick of Jose Mourinho. The idea of another two seasons of this man and his horrible football really don't appeal to me whatsoever.

I'll give Mourinho this: he's an intelligent & pragmatic man. He didn't get to where he is by being an idiot.

He knows he needs to win these games particularly against these lesser sides.
He had a decent start to his Spurs career employing a more proactive approach until the injuries hit. He then reverted to his well known approach: of sitting back & countering.

He did this at Real Madrid & at Inter even with all that attacking firepower at both those clubs.
BUT knowing he has his strongest Spurs side available & he needs points, I expect him to have us playing on the front foot.

Furthermore, this global crisis has crippled us along with most clubs financially.
He wants to improve the side & there seemingly won't be much money to play with in the transfer market so he'll need European football next season. He'll need that competition's funds plus the draw of just being there in order to create a greater lure for targeted players.

If it is more of retreating to our box & playing 10 or 11 men behind the ball for the vast majority of the match, then... ...I don't know what to say.

Here's to hoping for a very good performance & at the very least all 3 points

The best thing about Merson’s comments is that Jose will really want to show the world his team will score a lot of goals when they are ‘the favourites’. Tonight we have all 6 attacking players fit and available. I expect at least 4 goals.

0-0 coming up.
I hope you're proud of yourself.

Anybody noticed that the first thing JM reaches for to defend some saying that our current playing style is'nt getting the best out of Harry Kane is to point at statistics.

The same thing we will be able to point to if we win the FA/league cup under his reign.

Yea really don’t think he will it’ll be the slightly higher up more balanced 4-2-3-1 we saw vs West Ham in his first match.

That game we played pretty much the same way as we have been playing all along. When in possession Davies tucked in to make a back 3 and Aurier bombed on as a RW to make a front 5 (alongside Son, Dele, Kane and Moura). The main difference was we were less passive in the middle third, but as that game wore on, and JM gave instructions / made subs, we fell back and were hanging on a little to win 3-2 after being 3-0 up inside the first hour.

So we don't want him to win a cup now? I'm confused.

Jose has always done this tbf. His relationship with the media, since the day he arrived all those years ago, was designed to take the focus off his players.

An ex or for all I know still is a drunkard drug taking member of gamblers anonymous spouting his views about spurs and you want to take what he says seriously dear god some people are so desperate to see the back of Mourhino they are willing to give this toad ( Merson ) credibility it says more about you than Mourhino or Merson .

Your position on addiction, whether drugs or gambling, does you no credit at all, sir.

Dismiss Merson for his Arsenal bias and lack of intellect all you like (and I'd agree with you) but dismissing him for having addiction issues and fighting to deal with them says a lot more about you than about Merson.

For all his faults, and they are many, his honesty regarding his demons has been brave and I have nothing but respect for him in this regard. Having watched the thing with Terry Venables and the Euro 96 boys a month or so ago, I have no doubt that Merson is entirely genuine with regards to battling his addictions.

I wonder when the time will come when we stop comparing Poch and Jose.
Poch is gone. Some Spurs fans are stuck in the past.
We need to get behind our team and manager.

I recall that we were fragile in defense from the beginning of this season with Poch at the helm. Losing heavily even in CL!
At least we are looking a little stronger defensively now and like Ally Gold said, I think it's just a matter of time before someone gets a good routing from us.

All good managers start by working and having a strong defense and then work further up.
If we are honest, we were quite surprised at Dier and Sanchez pairing against Man Utd and yet they were both quite strong and effective.

We give up too easily on certain players while good managers and coaches work with them and build their confidence. It look like that's what Jose has done with a few lad.

Let's give the man the benefit of the doubt till end of NEXT season.
Let's see what he does to our Spurs.
I recall the first season under Poch wasn't that pleasant yet he came very close to winning a trophy.

Patience is the key.
