theirs no direction in our plays the amount of times when they showed a replay of an everton attack and then it switches back to the live game all i was seeing was the ball hoofed in the air long to kane and co and getting picked up in midfield by the everton players i saw that at least 5 different times after a replay. so predictable in how we play
Let me guess Dawson, I mean Toby's specials long diagonals.

Neville summed it up when he said there’s no combinations, just one pass and no one knowing what the the next pass was

If you don’t know what your next pass is, neither do the opposition...

I am sorry, that is a totally unjustifiable excuse for that performance, we had players away on Internationals.
Everton had 9 away on International duty, how come that didn't affect them to anywhere near the same extent ?
They prepared better, they outsmarted us tactically, played offensively, rather than defensively, and looked like they wanted it more, and to be honest have just as good a team as us, they are the reasons we lost, not we had players away on International duty (and forget they had as many as us away themselves)
One of their star players wasn't even an Everton player this time last week

I agree totally.

There will never be a time where the conditions will be perfect so a good manager adapts. Jose just seems to want the most perfect conditions and anything out of place, the whole thing falls down.

Injuries will happen, players will go away on intl duty and come back exhausted, you won't get every player you want but you gotta make it work.

That's why you get paid 15m a year because you're supposed to be one of the best at doing that shit.

I just think Jose hates losing more than he loves winning

He shit the bed at half time with the substitution and spent the rest of the half trying to mop up the mess he made by firing two attacking players on and into an attacking shape that wasn't actually a shape at all, just players randomly picking up vague notions of space by the looks of it.

We went one goal down and the team responded as if we'd just been with a fourth or fifth. They didn't down tools but there was never any threat of real, patient or controlled attacking intent. They were beaten the minute Everton scored. We seem afraid as a team. Afraid to fail probably, there's a lot of riding on this season for everyone right through the club - here we find out if the big gamble of firing Poch and investing in "serial trophy winner" Mourinho will pay off.

Poch's team didn't give that sort of timid display very often, so it feels extra weighty this loss, for me anyway. Cause I think what I learned today was, there's a real chance Daniel Levy fucked this whole thing right up.

I think his problem is looking at all of our players he's liked in the past (Dele and Dier) and believing they still have the answers.

Neither have ever been consistent, as seen in the doc and over the last few years, and I think we might need to look beyond them if he's going to win something with us. At the end of the day, they aren't Terry and Lampard.

Biggest overall issue will be that we will need a number of changes in the squad, and a certain amount of patience for them to gel.
Yea think you’re right. I just wonder when we put in performances like that how much is it own to the quality of the squad and how much is it Jose’s tactics ?

I’m all for patience with Jose and we need new signings but it does worry me how other managers with seemingly inferior squads can come in and get their team playing positive football so quickly with few excuses such as artefa at arsenal, ancelotti showed today what he’s doing with Everton, Rogers transformed Leicester, Bielsa did the same for Leeds yet we put in performances like the 2nd half of today and away at Bournemouth where we have zero creativity or intensity to our plan just sit off and hit long balls, it really does concern me.

When you analyse the makeup of our team it depressing no press without Sanchez at the back we are pretty pedestrian without Ndombele Lo Celso Lamela Dele Bergwijn we don't have any creativity. Son and Moura are head down players run and shoot great on their days but not consistent enough. Kane looks so frustrated. Then you have a midfield constantly hiding not forcing or building pathways to comfortable playing safe passes... Oh and a manager used to spending big money at a club wanting a 0 Net spend.

You couldn't make it up.

Minus the short turnaround with our fixtures, it’s a pretty favorable schedule until November 21 which starts a run where we play City, Chelsea, and Arsenal in a row.

Really have to take advantage of that softer run to build up form but also bank points.

Look I’m willing to give Jose some time but my goodness watch this video and it’s night and day how we are playing now compared to just 4 seasons ago, very dissalousioning indeed.

We’ve gone from this to today’s type of performance, this goes back to the people at the top who make the football decisiona, utter negligence but also my god Jose’s tactics are hard to watch. I’ll give it time to see if being b stards and playing anti football can somehow win us a trophy as Jose has seemed to do with every club he’s managed but watching this video my love and enjoyment for the club is certainly way way less. We really need at least another 3 top signings to have any hope of a successful season. ST and AM are a must and LB or CB also needed.

We need to change to a midfield 3 with Lo Celso and Ndombele ASAP.

It's clear the double pivot is dead and buried until we can find another Wanyama.

Peak poch we absoloutley smothered teams with our energy and pressing and movement and creativity, athletic full backs Walker and Rose up and down creating havoc going forwards and not letting anything past, Belgian duo at CB, amazing passers of the ball and readers of the game, so so solid and calm, Wanyama destroying all attacks and he could pass better than people give him credit for, Dembele the GOAT bossing entire midfield on his own, Son Dele Lamela in rotation with energy high pressing direct attacking and movement off Kane who would score everything and anything and could hold it up, run into space And the key to it all, Eriksen who for 2-3 seasons was absoloutley world class in terms of creativity. The team played with energy, we were fit, we were determined, we bullied teams but would also squeeezed the life out of them and then passed them to death or scored beautiful goals in transitions, heck even before Poch we played some lovely high tempo stuff Under Harry, we were respected by all the pundits and other fans but my goodness HOW HOW HOW have we gone from that to this?

Honestly it’s just so very depressing :(

Well the one big problem there is that the guy in the middle can only pass to the center backs and fullbacks. There's only so many combinations available when the center midfielder is that limited.

I'll be honest. I have major concerns.

I said back last January that he'd be gone by Xmas. I'm sticking by that.

And what worries me even more is the players like Hojbjerg, Davies, Moura...these are players Jose rates and he sacrifices their ability over work rate.

We are now linked with Sorloth.

Question. What state will our squad be in if the worst happens.

Mr Levy really needs to give his head a wobble.

Some people said it would be backward if we sign willian lol ... We need to sell dele alli ... If he plays in midfield, we will play like this ... As simple as this

We don't need to sell Dele and one very good match against Fulham for Willian doesn't change the fact we shouldnt sign him
