Obviously we don't know what goes on behind the scenes but sometimes it feels like we don't begin putting in the work until the window opens, on the 28th you should know the lay of the land by now. I understand plans fall through but it feels crazy to be in this position particularly with this volatile a manager.

If we end this window in no better shape, be that in quality or depth then his position has to be untenable.

Bodged the manager recruitment in the summer

Summer signings have hardly set the world alight

Eventually brought Conte in

Unable to get players in or out in January.

Can't help but feel that his reputation is massively overinflated. He took over the job at Juve, seemed to work solely on big wage freebies and Ronaldo, who let's face it wanted to go to Italy and wanted to go to the top team in Italy which at the time was Juve.

'because they need to do something'

Ahhhhh, many incredible deals and transfers have been done over the years because something needs to be done.
The thing is there's still some players out there isn't there. Scamacca, De Ketelaere, those wouldn't be scarmbling moves, they'd genuinely improve us. I liked the players that @jlunduski has been analysing. I feel like perhaps we need to push the boat out and do something like a summer target in Lamptey brought forward or as a few have mentioned SOMEHOW pull off getting a player like Raphina.

It's going to be fascinating to say the least.

Camera slowly pans across the office of Fabio Paratici who is sat slumped at his desk wearing sunglasses with the blinds closed and agitatedly sipping on his 25th espresso of the day.

Behind him, a framed and signed picture taken in happier times with his mentor, Jorge Mendes, smiling a Cheshire Cat grin.

“The January transfer window is the worst transfer window," he whispers to no-one in particular.

"It’s a window of opportunity, it’s a window of panic, it’s never a window to plan... I hate it.”

Paratici is just chaotic isn’t he? Managerial search, transfers. It just comes across as bad planning and not being able to manage his workload.

I suspect when Conte goes at the end of his contract then Paratici will too and we’ll start again. I’ll be amazed if Paratici is a success here one bit.

He probably does have solid connections. I mean he was at one of Europe's biggest clubs that would have given him access to many prominent contacts.

The problem is, those contacts will generally be in direction with expensive/well-sought after talents. At Juventus you can convince those connections and talents. At Tottenham, it isn't as simple as having more money or standing.

Yeah, this is my concern. Everyone is criticising Levy and complaining about Diaz and putting this down to money even though it's not, but long-term I'm wondering why Paratici thought it smart to prioritise a left-winger that doesn't fit into a 343 or 352 formation and has never played as a no.10, striker or wing-back.

I'm not ready to write him off just yet but I don't think the answer is as simple as giving him a bunch of money to spend. His main criticisms from Juventus fans seem to be squad planning and he's not shown me much yet that helps calm those fears.

For the love of Spurs

Would be very Spurs to sign the Boris Johnson of Football directors. All Fur coat and no knickers.

"So Fab, you've been here around half a season yet you haven't turned us into Champions League regulars.. Your position has now become untenable and therefore you must go. Arrivederci Signore" ?

We are approaching match thread levels of people spouting shite in here today. The 'make 3 subs after 15 minutes' brigade out in full force.

you can smell it from a mile away; we’re going to panic buy and overpay for some bang average winger who will maybe score 3 goals over the next season and a half and we’ll be trying to shift him on ridiculous wages for the next 5 windows

Romano doesn’t even try to hide his ass kissing of Paratici

problem now is that he is at Spurs and not Juventus: It is easy to see that the lure of first team football, Top notch training facilities and one of the worlds best stadium comes in seccond place to most players,
when the likes of Diaz chose, a mediocre training ground, a mediocre stadium and a shit city with probably a lot of bench time over us, So yeah I bet getting players at Juventus was a breeze compared to Spurs
