Maradona has just finished a four-day visit to the UK but is hoping to return with ambitions of coaching a Premier League club.

The 47-year-old, who watched Manchester United's FA Cup win over Spurs last weekend and attended Arsenal's Premier League contest with Newcastle in midweek, has never coached or played in England but is open to offers.

He said: "I'm looking for new opportunities, somewhere I can find a job, a position.

"There have been no formal talks and I haven't come this week to remove managers from positions in the Premier League.

"I want to see as many games as I can here over the coming months. It is true I have had informal talks with various people about opportunities in England. Until there is a contract in front of me I cannot say any more."

Maradona has said he was shocked by England's failure to qualify for this summer's Euro 2008 finals and is calling for Capello to work on the squad's "mental state" to ensure they can qualify for the 2010 World Cup.

"At the moment there are some England players who are the stars of their clubs, but not for their country. It's difficult to explain.

"Fabio Capello needs to work on their mental state, then the tactics. But the skill level is OK. For me, John Terry should be captain, Robinson should be in goal and Aaron Lennon must play. I like his style very much."

We should try to bring Maradona into our scouting network.

He has such pull with players.

I'm sure the Newcastle job will be vacant soon enough, Diego.

Lennon needs to practice crossing the ball above 3 feet. Maybe build a six foot fence in front of him and make him hit 100 crosses over it everyday. something. its frustrating watching him do all that great work only to send the ball in 2 feet off the ground and having it blocked.

I was at that game. I was quite young but I remember it well.

And sadly, not all Argies love Spurs. I was in Buenos Aires a couple of months ago, perusing that shops around the Plaza Once. They do replica shirts dirt cheap (about £3) and they have a range of quite a few English shirts. I went into one place and they had the top 4 and also West Ham (thanks to Tevez). I asked if they had any Tottenham shirts and they said that they hadn't heard of the club. I explained that it was the club of Ardiles and Villa but it still didn't ring any bells. Then I noticed lots of Jewish pariphanalia in the shop, so I told the owners that Tottenham were England's Jewish club. They were impressed but still had never heard of us.

But if he can whip in hard low crosses, they can result in unexpected goals due to ricochets. Defenders are scared of low hard driven crosses.

Yeah but that's not everyone; I lived in Buenos Aires for a year and met many more Spurs fans than I thought I would, it was never hard to find a match on the tele. Saw some great football too...

Where did you get that from, is there a link?

I know its off topic, but I'm pretty sure in the same article, he calls David Beckham average.

You really need to try and watch a game or two this season. His distribution has been much better.

Lennon's allround technique has improved dramatically this season. I get the impression that The Hudd has taken him to the side and shown him how to kick a ball...

Yes, I remember watching our 5-2 Boxing Day triumph over Everton a couple of years ago in the departure lounge at Buenos Aires airport (that's the full match, not highlights). Only just caught my flight.

Oh, they show loads of Premiership games in Argentina. I watched the first three games of this season in my hotel room there. My dad lives there and sees more Spurs games on telly than I do!

But in all my visits there, I've never seen anyone with a Spurs shirt, whereas I've seen quite a few people with Big 4 shirts on, and a few West Ham and Newcastle ones.
