The whole Jan replacement thing doesn't fly. Very different types of centre backs from what I've seen. More of the steely enforcer taking the first hit. More of a Lovren/Dawson type - broadly.

I've never seen him as that type. He seems very ideal for a high line though as he has an absolute knack for picking out through balls from the opposition.

Pleatism already sorted.

Pleat should have to be assigned as commentator for all Spurs' matches with Newcastle this year,.... not sure that there's a name on either squad he could handle.... he could probably find a way to mispronounce Davies and Kane :p

Would you define Lovren and Dawson as the same type?

Cool name plus he's Argentine. Sign him up!

Indeed. Never heard of him but this is the sort of signing I like most...

Brooding Latin type, doesn't give a fuck and no one dare mess with him. Stubble on his cheeks, probably plays with his socks down and enjoys the occasional cigar. Sign him asap.

And a handlebar moustache. Don't forget the moustache.

This is more like it, a link to a fairly experienced CB that plays in a top league.

I can't admit to watching scores of Villarreal matches habitually but I whenever I have seen them play he has looked very solid and composed.

Signings like Dier/Lascelles and even Rojo ( not played in a top league week in week out )are great for the future and possible potential, but Musacchio is a plug and play instantly type which is what we need.

What is the price range likely to be? Do we think he could come in as well as Schneiderlin? Or is it more likely that if Schneiderlin falls through we'll stick with what we've got in midfield and put the money towards this guy at CB?

I've seen quite a bit of him on telly, and we were close to signing him as a kid during Ramos' tenure. He may even know Lamela from their River Plate days. @Ossie85 may be able to clarify.

Musacchio is a defender first and foremost. A fairly classic Argentine CB: tough, good marker, strong in the challenge, knows his defensive duties, reads the game well. He's not that tall though, only 1.82m according to wiki.

From what I've seen, Musacchio could complement Jan very well.

Musacchio left before Lamela made his debut for River. He made his debut at 16yrs old and left when he was 18 practically for nothing because he wanted playing time. So I wouldn't say he's a loyal player

Other than that, he's very good in every aspect of the game. Can easily play DM too.
He has lapses where he loses concentration though. Similar to Demichelis imo, but obviously younger

It's a no from me and I'm usually very positive about those we get linked with. Only 6ft, which wouldn't be a problem but he is also a relatively poor jumper and not the best at heading. He is also really quite weak and can get shoved off the ball too easily.

Terrible concentration and although he reads the game well he tends to get drawn several metres out of position.

Vlad is twice the player he is honestly. Should be going for better.

Watch a lot of La Liga and got into watching Villarreal a lot in particular because I liked watching Rossi when he was there.

Just my onions and it's not to say Poch couldn't get more out of him. Says a lot that he didn't call the call up for Argentina for whom have pretty naff CBs bar Garay.
