Aarons in, Aurier out would of course make room for another non-HG spot in the squad. That’s probably important given our links to foreign strikers when we’re currently maxed out at non-HG spots [if we sign Reguilon]

Indeed, although if Bale replaces either Moura or Lamela then that’s another HG box ticked

he then posted a video that Aarons liked it....

It does appear that Max Aarons liked a reply to this guys original tweet. It was a Spurs fans saying Aarons would be the HG backup with potential. He has since removed the like but this "ITK" posted a quick screen recording showing the like to prove it was genuine.

If Aurier is to go then it would make a huge amount of sense to bring in a more conventional RB to rotate with Doherty. Aarons is homegrown and has the potential to get better. Unlikely though with everything else going on.

I just still can’t see Norwich selling for less than £20m at this juncture. And honestly, I’d rather just play Tanganga for defensive solidity and spend the money elsewhere.

Depends on how much we could sell Serge for. If the difference is only £5m I don’t think it’s a bad move.

Maybe this is the way the club has to keep everyone happy now. The club want Bale and Jose wants Reguilon, get both. The club want Aarons and Jose wants Doherty get both.

Yes... Levy has always wanted to spend more money...

If we were to sell Aurier and Foyth and have Aarons and Tanganga as back up RB and CB that would free up 2 Non HG places and leave us with a nice little profit (enough to sign Bas Dost maybe)

Probably unlikely but not totally unrealistic.

Nor can I saying they’ve sold their starting left back. I’m assuming they’ll want to go straight back up this season and keeping Aaron’s would make that easier. He’s still young and may well be willing to give them another year.

Transfermarkt says Jamal Lewis went to Newcastle for £14.85m so I would imagine it would be the same sorta price.

With the ages of some of these players coming in and targets mentioned, I imagine that the club will want to be countering that with some young blood waiting in the wings. That's the only way I see it being possible.

I actually think a big spend this summer had to be the way forward, obviously COVID screwed that, but the squad had become so stale and we really needed a overhaul, not just 2 or 3 additions.

With Jose being a coach who wants to win now, not tomorrow, the club should be conscious that in 2 years time we may be looking to replace a number of positions again. One way to ensure that's not needed is to bring in a couple of younger players too.

Agreed, and whilst Levy could never say it, maybe part of taking the £175m loan to cover covid losses was to keep the original plan alive?
