Another player we've waited about 2 years to get who isn't actually all that good.

Meanwhile Chelsea completely transform their side in an instant...

Aarons is not bad. But he will not suddenly transform us into world beater. So expectation should be checked.
He started off the season playing well. But only just that. He’s got potential to be a quality player but he’s not close to being better than Serge at the moment. He needs games so signing him to be anything other than our starter would be a mistake and therein lies the problem.

Ohh yes another meltdown for us after something not related with Spurs, please.

Really dislike all this dismissal of a player based on his height. If you're good enough, you're big enough. If England had adopted this mantra 20-30 years ago, we'd probably have had more international success.

Yes, there are exceptions. No one wants Aaron Lennon as their goalkeeper, but more or less any other position on the pitch aside from perhaps centre back, you can still be small and succeed. Yes, it may be a disadvantage when defending crosses or set pieces for example, but look at Lucas who is great in the air despite his size. There are also advantages to having a low centre of gravity too.

I don't know if Max Aarons is going to be a world beater, but I wouldn't dismiss him because he's short. I would say his pace is the most important attribute that we're missing from our defence at the moment in any case.

As a man of 5’8” (and 3/4, thank you!) height, I wholeheartedly agree with this post.

Honestly for me these stats say next to nothing. Some good right backs don't need to tackle or do interceptions beacause there positional awareness don't get them into trouble in the first place. Just one example.

I've not seen anything of this lad but Andrew Robertson wasn't exactly the player he is now when he was languishing at Hull. It's hard to look good in a relegation threatened team.

Walker Peters we KNOW can’t defend against top teams - Aarons has had some solid displays and could grow into much much more

You could make a case for him as MOTM against Man City last week. I’m not saying he’s the answer, but it should be mentioned.

Robertson actually showed some really bright flashes at Hull. I had personally hoped we'd replace Ben Davies with him.

gilly on simb claims 'done deal'
he used to be a bit itk back in the day but not sure about that anymore, although i think hes been involved in some agent business in recent years, especially young players i think, so who knows.
didnt think it was worthy of the itk thread

Haven’t we got someone on here who’s fairly ITK with Max Aarons directly? Close to a family member or to a close friend of Max or something?

Could just be a figment of my imagination but it not, would be interesting if he/she has any info on this.
