Probably why we went for Poch instead of FDB as United and LVG pretty much have the Dutch League sewn up in terms of taking talent.

That's an excellent point actually. The board may have figured that advantage of de Boer having an "in" with the Dutch players was negated, and especially since we seem to have a good relationship with Ajax anyway.

Guarantee he'll be a United player when they shift 2 of Nani, Young and Valencia.

Sounds to me like they need a RW then, especially considering their CAM's are all righties capable of playing from the left. Again, no idea why they're looking for a LW.

I wouldn't think it would be a "priority" signing for United. It would be a "Luxury" signing done because LvG likes him and because he is young enough that he could serve as squad depth for a season without concern if he was playing week in and week out until he either develops enough to push someone out of the lineup or United shift someone.

United are likely going to be going through a facelift for a couple windows and if United bring in Depay now it may be done with the thinking that over the next 2-3 windows they very well may look to move a Kagawa or Mata.

Depay is young, already knows the manager and his system (the manager seems to like him) and is very talented, teams have brought players into clubs for far fewer reasons.

You and I are having this exact same discussion on reddit ;)

And yes, I agree with you. Certainly not a position of need, but he would still be easily coaxed into the move. Either way it's good news for us, since it removes Man U from the market for a LW if they do buy him for a position they don't need, but of course if they don't buy him we have another quality option available.

Given Van Gaal's systems I think Mata, Kagawa, Depay, one of the 3 who aren't shifted and Januzaj should cover that.

Van Gaal loves him some inverted wide forwards. The only lefty in that group is Januzaj. Therefore, you see the problem. He already had a problem as is trying to shoehorn Mata and Kagawa in given Rooney's new home as a CAM, and bringing in yet another genuine inverted LW/wide forward only compounds that problem.

Don't think someone should be judged on a world cup

Royston Denthre was the next big thing based on a few games in a tournament a few years ago and he turned out to be shite, this guy could too

He's been quite good for PSV for a couple years now.

Real Madrid saw something they liked in Royston though, whereas my Everton supporting mate reckons he one of the worst players he has seen in an everton shirt, look at him now, Reading

Yeah it's always a risk, but there's also a reason van Gaal is interested in this kid. That one WC substitute's appearance is not the sole reason he's seeing links around Europe.
