I though we were discussing about things and sharing opinions. You have a problem with that?
Ah, so accusing someone of being a typical customer is sharing opinions.

The suns out, I think I'm going to go into the back garden and shout at the sparrows for eating all the birdseed while the blue tits aren't getting a look in.

Why should he freeze his pay for ever ? He has achieved what he has own his own merits and nothing to indicate he was the cause of the virus!

I didn't say he should, I said he could. In the face of people making out he's done something amazing by cutting everyone's pay.

You did by bringing in a comparison of your employer, which is laughable, unless it's a comparable business.

'Daniel Levy could freeze his pay forever and still never have to worry about anything again. Instead he’s pushed the costs of the 8th richest club in the world on to the government. Even my employer isn’t doing that'

He is doing what he needs to and unfortunately it does not fit with your views.

The clubs income is based on games being played and if that is not happening can you imagine the money going out every week with nothing to counteract it.

If Levy needs to do this for the longevity of the club its unfair to criticise him without knowing financial impact.

None of you have mentioned that the club may go bankrupt. We have no games so no money coming in and a £600m debt to pay.

The directors put on furlough are maxed at 80% of £2500 a month like everyone else. So will be hurting too.

It's doubtful lewis can bail us out as his other companies (tavistock) are also getting pummeled. Yes levy and lewis wont be on the street but this will massively hurt them.

So maybe cut them a bit of slack.

To be fair to the chairman the decision to reduce contracts for the playing staff is not his to make. That decision must come from the PFA in consultation with the EPL.

I know players on millions a year who do not live within their means. They are mortgaged to the hilt and pay out of pocket for everything - cash for cars, cash for schools, cash for first class flights, etc. They don't live in the same world as you and me. A pay cut could have major ramifications for certain players and their families.

I also know spouses who won't want to see their spending power diminished to help the regular staff. They do not have the emotional tie to their husband's club they way we do as fans. They have to agree to the cut too.

I know our club and Newcastle is being lambasted in the press right now, but all other clubs will go through the same process if this pandemic goes on much longer. By all reports Daniel Levy has taken a pay cut, so he is playing his part. I would assume the PFA will follow suit and if not they will be misreading the mood of the country. However, see my points above as to why they have to take their cue from their members.
This is a piss take right? You actually feel sorry for the millionaire players wives having to cut back on spending? Get real mate there are a lot of people on low or minimum wages that are going to find it very difficult to survive. What a prat!!!!!!!!!

Levy is talking a lot of sense. This pandemic is having a massive and tragic effect. The world will not be the same place after it in many different ways. Tottenham have taken on huge debts with the new stadium at what now seems to be the worst time. The club will need to be managed very carefully to get through this crisis. Indeed the same applies to football as a whole. I just hope that the players and management agree to take significant pay cuts to help the situation. If they don’t they will just appear even more detached from the fans and that does not bode well for the future. The decision of Harry Kane to talk about possibly leaving Spurs at this time was crass, reflects very badly on him and suggests he has little concern for the fans.

Well then I really don’t get what your issue is with criticism?

What he is paid to do is not always of benefit to the fans. Identifying this and pointing it out should not be met with derision but regularly is.

Furlough income is 80% up to 2.5k per month, Rather than paying the other 20%, and accepting the 80% of help offered, they cut everyone’s salaries by 20%, so they pay nothing unless you earned over 3.1k a month. For Levy and the directors this will not affect them at all. For Doris, she’s 20% worse off. And all before our 200k a week footballers have lost a penny.

You can always find companies who are doing things worse, that’s not much of an ambition. But we are only the second club to do it after Newcastle. That’s the company we keep. Just like charging extortionate fees for mascot appearances (all other top 6 teams let them do it for free), most expensive tickets etc etc.

It’s cool if you want to support a bank. I’m losing interest in it. I want to support a football club and all the community aspects that used to represent

I agree this is pretty poor as a first step. We should have agreed a deal with the players first and then announced both at the same time, i think there would be more understanding if EVERYONE in the club was taking a 20% pay cut.

Furloughing staff now but waiting on players to come to agreement with the PFA.

Think I’m done with the greed of football

Not our decision on players. The pfa are in talks with them about taking cuts.

There's more chance of me being asked to play upfront with Kane than the company going bust over Coronavirus.

Furlough is designed for struggling small businesses that run on razor-thing margins to try and keep going. Not for one of the world's richest and most profitable football clubs to rip the piss out of it.

That isn't true, it comes down to the discretion of the company if they choose to take it.

Not looking to do the the whataboutery thing but Virgin, Easyjet, Mothercare, Pret, Capita to name a few are all using the Furlough scheme - two of them are multi billion pound companies.

We’re a joke to other big clubs. We’re nouveau riche, playing at being important. The lottery winners who moved in next door. Giving it the big I am while winning nothing and generally being fairly inconsequential. Not plucky and loveable like Ajax, not making a title success of our situation like Atletico, not a fan temple like Dortmund. Pulling up the ladder once we’re in the rich club despite not long ago being outside looking in.
Why don't you go and support another club. You're clearly not happy with our great club.
