The current scapegoat, i see? Well, all those bleating on about how he's past it, a carthorse, a donkey, needs to be dropped for a very long time - f*ck you. Wake up.

Michael Dawson is a genuine warrior who has given years of great service in our colours. He's been backed by every Spurs manager he has played under and has contributed to some of the most superb defending i've seen, on his day. Lloris stuffed two very easy clearances and cost us two goals today but Dawson being tricked past by a massively confident and on form Negredo is FAR worse a sin and proves he should be sold to a glue factory? Walker screws up regularly, is caught out of position, doesn't appear to link up well with any of our midfield except Lennon and, even then, it can be scary, yet i say that and i have a ton of you defending him.

He is Captain for a reason, he would shed blood for our shirt, yet theres a small pocket of you apparently with memories short enough to not even remember that, until this afternoon, we had one of the meanest defences in the league. Not long enough to remember an entire team of shit-outs losing to Basel back in April, in the middle of which stood Dawson, like a f*cking barbarian, taking on all comers and saving us from what would've likely been several more goals conceded. Before we'd barely even got warmed up this season many of you were crying out for him to be dropped for Kaboul - a man who hadn't kicked a ball in anger in a year - are you all on crack?

Not sure what i expect though, the second we got Lloris, the prospect of Brad coming on, formerly respected and lauded for some great displays last year, has become a catastrophe that causes you to place your head in your hands and cry like the world has ended. YOU do not know better than premier league managers, coaches and other pros. ACCEPT THAT and stop picking on one player to abuse, it's f*cking pathetic and unwarranted. Just give it a rest.

Apologies for the language, these little snidey snipes at our Captain in virtually every thread on this forum are getting ridiculous and right on my nerves.

Some very good points. I love daws & he's been a wonderful player for us and is still a top premiership defender. I even like the long pass (if occasional). Personally, I think he struggles against the top skilful forwards as most defenders do so would have played vlad or jan at cb today but think he is great for most other games. There are ways of saying things however & some of the comments & name calling on here recently for a player who gives his all for our club & is a model pro have been very poor.

Not suited to highline unless got a very good fit defender next to him. Kaboul looked off the pace, missing that final 10%.

Also I am amazed how vertonghen avoided criticism.

#Dimispur - first disagree rating, yet i don't see any reasonable explanation. Omar at least threw in a picture to keep me amused.

Dawson & Friedel are both not good enough for where we want to be. Deal with it.

Sorry, and you are? I mean, you are clearly a Premier League coach or manager, or a fellow pro at the very least, right? Perhaps you can explain why instead of just saying "deal with it" like some petulant teenager?

Some people just care too much about our players, get too emotionally attached. Fact is I just want Tottenham to win, don't care if Friedel or Dawson or whoever is a good lad and would die for the cause. If we get a better player in to replace someone, then bye bye. Ruthless, but its how its got to be.

As you've stated most defenders struggle against top forwards. I can't think of a central defence pairing in the league that could contain an on form Man City. There is a lot of criticism levelled at Dawson being unable to play the high line, Navas left Jan for dead for that 6th goal. Against a team of Man City's quality I don't think any of our defenders would do well playing with a high line.

I'd agree with that, he doesn't suit an advanced defensive line, but apparently that doesn't suit any of our defenders, or midfield, so once again, bit odd to pick out one player to slate for it.

Agreed again, i would also like us to have the best possible but some on here claim Chiriches is the answer, without seeing him play more than a handful of games on this countries soil, some say Kaboul, who is barely over a rather serious injury and hasn't looked the powerhouse he was prior to that. I can't see any logic in these arguments other than a dislike of Dawson, so they can pick on every mistake regardless of why or how it occurred and claim he's past it. Rubbish.

Sorry dude, hit spam by accident, but i got it right second time around. Unfortunately, since i got a car, my fine arse has become a little more rounded, so not so suited to the whole bum secks thing. Besides, i have a very small anus.

Someone in the match thread blamed Dawson for the last goal lol! They thought he was Verts. I'm with you OP.

Agree with the OP - Dawson's a quality defender and his service to the shirt over the years deserves a bit more respect than some of the half-baked vitriol he sometimes gets. Some seem to think he's to blame for everything under the sun, and is castigated for not being a cross between Usain Bolt and Beckenbauer. His attitude is first class - something which others in the side could do with looking at.

Apparently after the game Dawson was the only Spurs player to approach and applaud our travelling support who were fantastic throughout. He might not be the most gifted player we have but I'd rather have a player that loves the club and appreciates the fans instead of slinking off down the tunnel within seconds of the final whistle after a thumping.

I think both Dawson and Kaboul were woeful today, you cannot escape it. Kaboul does have some mitigating circumstances though... barely match fit and dropped into the match today for some crazy reason. Dawson also doesn't look comfortable high up the pitch, and often makes the same mistakes of diving in and committing himself. Cardinal sin when you don't have the recovery pace. I think Dawson is definitely cut slack, some fair, some unfair.

Edit: But its swings and roundabouts though. I always thought Gallas got unfairly scrutinised compared to Dawson et al, as he was the easy target. At some point I think most players find themselves under the microscope.

I would never question his character ort he fact he is one of the more decent men to wear our shirt in recent times, it doesn't win you football matches though unfortunately.
