For the last few weeks this forum has become more and more aggressive and i'm seeing way too many arguments where reasoned debate could be had - sure, we're upset, i get that. Results aren't going our way, the clubs in disarray, but to start turning on each other is, frankly, shite.

Might i suggest that instead of logging in to SC for a while, some of you go make a brew and sit down with a box set of light hearted comedy, or an action series or something, as this is getting worse and i know i'm not the only one getting fed up with seeing the place over-flow with hateful bullshit every time i log in.

The Dawson argument is a particular favorite - so much scope for debate, he basically personified AVBs problems - where's the debate? There is none, because one side rely almost entirely on "He's shite and slow" and... well, that's it. There is a huge list of problems that his situation highlighted yet instead of using it as a constructive platform to talk about the teams frailties, it turned into a pie slinging contest that has divided the community.

The AVB stay/go thing was sort of rolling along at a fair pace then he went and now we've got half the forum claiming mystic-meg like that he should never have gone, we all saw this coming etc.

Myself, i showed a bit of concern about us relying on such an unknown quantity, expecting that if Sherwood took the reigns and managed to luck out a couple of results he might convince Levy to let him run with it until the Summer and i tried to debate it with those who did question my concerns, but it's becoming almost impossible to have a proper discussion on here recently.

F*ck the problems at the club for one day - stay off the keyboard, warrior types - in fact stay away from all football related news, let the dust settle, have a fag and a fap, do some breathing exercises and once the fresh air has had a chance to clear some of the cobwebs-of-concern out come back and lets start discussing the situation and trying to move forward as fellow fans of a club that is having a shit time of it right now. Scapegoats, from Levy and the board to the guys and girls in the turnstyles, aren't needed atm. Positive solidarity is a much more appealing state of affairs and much more constructive, afterall if there's one thing we all have in common - we're all TTWD.

Couldn't agree more RSS. I don't really venture into match threads much now.

Shame this is in Chat (where all the cool, chilled kids hang out) rather than Spurs Chat

It's painful.

There simply is no discussion, it seems people want instance success - even more ironic when we haven't actually had success for so bloody long now (in my life time a couple of trophies)....

I sat give Sherwood a go, no discussion, just shouted down.

Last nights match thread was really bad too - I keep harping on about it, but I've never seen it that bad.

Sherwood made changes that people have been banging on about doing for months, then when it happens, they moan that it shouldn't have happened.

You really couldn't make it up!

Sherwood made changes that people have been banging on about doing for months, then when it happens, they moan that it shouldn't have happened.

This is my biggest concern now, i mentioned it in another thread but that was going at the speed of a freight train at the time - Levy has, for the last few years, given the fans exactly what we've demanded at almost every turn; We wanted Harry out, he got rid of Harry. We wanted a dynamic new manager, someone who could stick around for a few years, he bought in the epitome of a young dynamic manager who had a ten year plan for his interview. We wanted more money spent on players, he spent a fucking fortune on them and managed to negotiate a magnificent price for our one superstar who was intent on leaving to keep the ship steady as he did so. The fans then demanded AVB out after a string of awful results, and he did just that, and even now, Sherwood put out a team that so many fans had been begging to see and, despite a slew of injuries, it didn't work.

All we do is moan, all we do is complain that the grass is greener over in that other field, but not once have we admitted when we, as a community of fans, were wrong.

I honestly think Levy would be completely within his rights to say bollocks to it, ignore everything we say and just do whatever he feels will get the club back on steady footing right now, and we can't complain as this is exactly what we demanded.

A bit of time off is required by many, including me.

If the match thread is bad, why not try the chat room? It's always good humoured in there no matter how shit we're playing.

Though if you do want to be a moaning git, please don't come in the chat room.

It's the worst i've seen it in my time of posting. I just can't be bothered to post as much anymore which is a shame.

Even when I wasn't happy with AVB I never shouted people down or wanted him gone. But when I tried to put up a reasoned explanation I got shouted down. It's pathetic.

There is so much that I want to say, but I can't be arsed. it will just get lost in all of the bollocks thats being spouted off.

I haven't posted for ages, the general mood has been awful for a few months and the discussions haven't given me any reason to get involved.
Sick and tired of having my mood dictated by football and reading most of the posts nowadays just makes my mood worse.
Thank god for chat, always makes me smile a few times a day.

This might actually sound a little radical, and I know it's never going to be changed, but...I think that the rating system doesn't work as well as the old rep system, I even feel that it doesn't help things either.

Bear with me, but when it was the old rep system, you used to have to post something very very good or very constructive, or not so if it was neg rep, to gain rep points. But since it has changed, especially more so lately, Anyone can get a like or an agree and I think it makes it easier to be a lazy poster, you know, by saying something or someone is shite, someone or a few agree with it, it then fuels that poster to make more posts like that, then it spirals out of control.

Does that make sense? Probably not.

I was actually in a good mood this morning.

Then I came on here and found out that not only is it "all over", but we're also going to get relegated. :grumpy:

What I've noticed in Spurs Chat is a pattern whereby someone will slag off a player, the manager, Levy, or all three, and some holier than thou type, having taken it upon themselves to be personally offended on behalf of the club, responds by calling that person a twat (or variations on the word).

People should be allowed to vent their frustration at what has been a crap season, without getting personal abuse from self appointed 'true supporters' (always love that insult...up there with "you're just an armchair fan...nobody could ever read the game as well as I can from behind the pillar in the East stand").

I think it definitely encourages more negativity. I'm not sure what the mods were expecting when they put 'spam', 'dislike' and a big red school teacher-esque cross for 'disagree' in as options (though at least they got rid of the Welshie button...sorry I mean 'dumb').

I think too many fellahs on here think football is like FM29 or FIFA2028 and after a bit of this and that
they think they know the real world.

The big world is a nasty horrid place and you don't always get what you want - even if you do stamp your feet or throw stuff around your bedroom.

If we think before we make cutting personal remarks, it won't get too nasty. We're all entitled to our opinions and they are bound to differ and that can be debated in a mature way.

Things are miserable enough at the present time without SCers having a go at each other. Banter is fine, insults aren't.

Am I expecting too much?

I don't mind a bit of disagreement and attempted one upmanship, it's an internet forum after all and basically that's what they do best. It's the deranged hyper emotional threads and posts that get me. I honestly can't see how people can work themselves up into such a state over it all.

I think people must just have too much time on their hands. I've got a lot going in my life, which means that I can walk away from it. I will never let this club take over my life. I'm invested in them emotionally don;t get me wrong, because they have been a part of my life for 38 years, but I know how to detach myself from them too. Some people i presume just can't do that.
