Manchester United have reportedly set a £15million asking price for Nemanja Matic as the midfielder continues to be linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham. Serbia international Matic flourished under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, helping Chelsea win two Premier League titles, and followed the Portuguese manager to Old Trafford in 2017. The 31-year-old was once rated as one of the best midfielders in Europe but his influence is waning and Matic has made just three league appearances for the Red Devils this term.........

In the Metro, but also several other newspapers.

Inevitable! It looks like he wants a new CDM and Dier isn’t going to cut it but surely we can do better than Matic? Although if that’s who he wants I guess Levy will be happy to go for such a cheap option.

Haven’t his legs gone? Don’t see the point when we already have a CDM with fitness issues in Wanyama and another trying to get back to form in Dier.

We need much better than Matic. Mourinho usually builds his team around his DM. Can't do that with what we have and Matic isn't the answer either.

No no no. At most a loan until the summer if we need depth and can't get anyone else.

Matic has been injured recently and many United fans I've seen what him to be starting.

For £15m yes please. A player Mourinho both rates and trusts. We desperately need a DM in Jan and for £15m in today’s market for an experienced player it’s low risk. Wait until the summer to bring in a quality defensive and athletic player in the ilk of Ndombele.

Why would we want Matic on probably a minimum 3 year contract and then go and buy a better replacement for him 6 months later?

Because we currently have 2 knackered DM’s in Dier and Wanyama. We desperately need another DM and highly quality players are rarely available in Jan.

Personally for couple years wouldn’t mind him. His positional sense is mad in a nice way. His distribution is excellent. Skippy would learn loads from him.

It’s the equivalent of a Davids type signing... cheap, shed loads of experience and both rated and purchased before by Mourinho. Matic makes a lot of sense for a short term signing... short being for a couple of years.
