He is shit. We should be signing players in their prime.

Emre Can would be a good signing.
Over reaction that he is ‘shit’. Only thing against him is he is 31 years old, and injury now and again. Calling him what you have is unwarranted. Check out his record and medals.

That would scream Levy however, as to why i'm worried....

Even in the last year of Mourinho at ManU he looked like he was carrying the weight of a thousand men trying to get around the pitch. Other than him being good for Mourinho 2 years ago nothing in the last 18 months or so has been any indicator that he is still that player. We have plenty of defensive midfielders you would totally buy if you were buying the player from 2 years ago and not who they are today.

Doesn't really relate to my point though - people are judging based on his selection in the current United side

Contract is running out, won't cost much. Don't see a problem with it as a short-term thing personally.

He’s not shit but it seems his legs have gone.

And we don’t need another immobile defensive midfielder lol.

He IS shit now. He used to be really good, but he's too old and slow.

If we could drop Vic i wouldn't be overly opposed to us picking up Matic. I feel like Matic could be a cheap option of "sign the guy the manager wants"

But since we have Vic it feels like we have our quota of immobile DM's who have health issues.

Matic isn't shit and very good in terms of positional sense. Wouldn't be my first choice as I'd rather look at a longer term option for the role. I see Julian Weigl is being linked with Barca today (£21m fee being mentioned. Has a year and a half left on his contract). He looked decent early on but have't really kept tabs on him. Maybe could be an option? Obviously if the Barca interest in genuine then that puts paid to that.

Ditto. We need his kind of experience. He is a proven shrewd winner.

I see him as an Edgar Davids type signing - may be past his best, but brings leadership

we've lacked experienced top class / PL winners (sorry Ajax boys - Dutch Eredvisie doesn't count IMHO) within the squad and management - definitely need someone with his possible leadership qualities (if he's the right guy...don't know enough about him behind the scenes)

Is he worse than Dier?

Going on how he's been playing for Utd the last 6 months, he hasn't been much better. In my eyes we are adding a player with the same flaws as Dier, just a couple of years older.

No thanks. Our issue on the pitch is neither experience nor leadership related, it’s a lack of a mobile defensive midfielder to get around and shut down attacks before they start. Wanyama, Sandro, Parker, Palacios. Would much rather Phillips or maybe Zubeldia from Sociedad, someone tigerish.
Couldn't agree more, perfect post.

Really? I can’t think of a more unLevylike signing that an injury prone 31 year old on huge wages.

Injury prone? He’s missed the last 10 games with a muscle injury, prior to that he’s got one of the best injury records in modern day football.

Just because Utd have a shit manager and no team work it doesn’t mean all of their players are shit. Look at Alli, injuries and poor form for 18 months, new manager and he’s on fire again. Our best players have all missed a substantial amount of games yet they’re not crap and in need of being replaced are they.
